| When Did Yorkies Become the New "IT" dog??? When I bought Sadie a year ago - after my beloved Westie had died - I did a ton of research about different dog breeds. I felt that a Yorkie would be perfect for me because of the small size (easy to take on trips and on airlines), wonderful disposition (sweet, loveable, and loving), non-shedding ( so that she could sleep in my bed with me), trainable to toilet indoors, etc. etc. Now it seems that people are so totally obsessed with Yorkies that they're willing to try to kidnap someone else's Yorkie!!! It's totally gotten out of hand. We shouldn't have to be afraid to leave our Yorkie's alone in the yard for a couple of minutes for fear that someone will steal them!!! If you can't afford a Yorkie, there are tons of rescue organizations where you can get a needy Yorkie. Please leave our Yorkies in peace - we shouldn't have to worry about them non-stop 24/7.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | You are so right! Yesterday when I was walking with the pups this girl was walking really fast the opposite direction then stopped and said "What kind of dog is that?" I said A Yorkie and she said a "teacup" I explained to her no, etc. Then she told her friend that's the type of dog she wants. I heard this about 3 times yesterday "That's the dog I want...yadda yadda yadda"

But I don't know when these dogs became the it dogs because I cannot name a single celebrity that has this dog. I do not remember them being so popular 5 years ago but maybe that's because I didn't have my own puppy so I didn't really notice

YT 2000 Club Member | I wanted a Yorkie when I was around 14, my aunt had 4 of them and I fell in love with the breed. I am 34 and I am finally getting one, by December Jeter should be home with me! I never really paid attention to how popular they were now because I have wanted one for so long. I think they will become very popular now with the celebrities that have just got them. |

| When people say that is the kind of dog I want I let them know how much it really takes to be a yorkie owner. My little girls are high maintenance, but would not get rid of them for anything. I just don't want people to get one that really can't take care of them. Our girls are 4lbs and we are so over protective. We do worry about them 24/7.

But she is SUCH a joy - I just love watching her - running after butterflies, swimming in the pool, playing with all of her toys.......

| It Dog I never realized how popular they were till I got my little one 4 1/2 years ago. When I started taking her to the park I would be stopped constantly and asked what type of dog she is and got the same statement as you all have listed "that's the kind of dog I want". Well if that is the kind of dog that they want why don't they know what the breed is. DUH. I have wanted a Yorkie for 10 years and when I was finally in a place where I could get one I started my search and found my little one. She is the light of my life. Jay
