| I am crying out for help! I recently purchased a maltese puppy as some of you may know.. i have been researching and wanting a puppy for years.. he is 12 weeks old and less than 2 pounds.. from a champion blood line.. i paid $2500 for him and he was worth every penny.. 2 days after i brought him home my father had a heart attack and now he needs a heart transplant (i live with my father).. he is the provider of money so now we are stuck because he can not work and because they will turn his immune system off he can not have any pets near him.. i am also scared that since i will be in the hospital alot i will not be able to give the puppy the attention it deserves.. this is a horrible situation and i dont know what to do.. the place i bought him from made me sign contracts that unless he is sick i can not return him.. and i cant give him to a shelter because i do not have the heart to and i cant afford to lose all that money at a time like this.. if anyone has any ideas please i would greatly appreciate it. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry for all of this heartbreak! This is so much for you to take in. I wish I could reach out and help you. Is there a friend who could help? Extended family? A rescue society that could do temporary fostering? Whatever you do, don't bring him to a shelter.

| Can you not provide documentation to the breeder you brought him from that now due to your dad's illness you can't have the dog and maybe they will take him back or at least try to help you resell him?? You have a very serious issue and although the dog is not ill the household he would be living in would be hazardous to your dads health!! That should count for something!!

| If it was only two days that you had him the breeder should take him back if you explain the situation. She is not required to but she probably would. It wouldnt hurt to ask. |

| Try posting him in the news paper or like everyone else has said try getting him into a temp foster home or a relative. Here is utah we have a web page called ksl.com that we can post classifieds in. Maybe New York has something like that? Good luck and sorry to hear about that. I work as an EMT and heart attacks are SCARY!!! My heart goes out to you and your family.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Can you ask the Breeder to take him back for 2,000. She can choose another good home and make 500.00 for her efforts. At least you will get most of your money back. Good luck

| I can't believe that the breeder won't take the puppy back...It doesn't sound like a reputable breeder to me...Is it a show breeder? I really pray that you are able to find a home for this puppy... Try posting this on www.maltesetalk.com That forum is one of yorkietalk's sister forums...

| I'm confused, you posted in January that your father had a heart transplant and had no immune system so you couldn't have a dog. Does he have to have another transplant? Hope he is better soon. Best wishes in placing your pup too.

| my dad had heart problems earlier but luckily didn't need a transplant in january.. it was a close call and they assured us that the problem was fixed because he is very young and they didn't end up giving him one.. but than suddenly what they fixed backfired.. its been a huge mess these last couple of months.. and we thought we had overcome it but boy were we wrong.. |

| I know it's scary, my bf has had numerous heart attacks and may eventually have to have a transplant. They can do amazing things in the medical field now so keep your chin up. Hoping he's home with you soon.
