| 2 dog limit / military family Well after reading the posts from Sweetr72...I began to worry about our dog situation a little. We are a military family that moves quite a bit...my husband is in Afghanistan right now so I am living at home. We have a min Schnauzer that we have had for 5 years...and we got the 2 yorkies girls a little over a month ago. Maggie (the schnauzer) has to stay, I don't want to seperate the girls...but I don't know how it is going to work out with the apts. I didn't honestly know or even think about the limit when we got them. With us being military we can't buy a house. The concern of mine is moving when my husband comes home....we would be moving when he comes home to an apt for about 8 months...then most likely moving again cross country. I have called the apts we are interested in and they say 2 dog limit, regardless of how small they are. Does anyone live in apts and have more than the max? Are you worried daily about getting caught? I wasn't worried until Sweetr72 posted and now I am concerned. What does everyone think? |

| I'm a military spouse as well! We currently live in S. Korea. If you live on post they have a limit as well but you can request an exception that is almost always granted, especially when two of the dogs are little. In apartments off post I've never had an issue with getting caught. Just make sure you don't walk them all together or have them all there when maintenance, etc comes over. Also hopefully they aren't all barkers, having several dogs that are barkers tends to cause more of an issue. Hope that helps and good luck!

| Hi, We are in the military as well, and right now I live on post housing and the limit is 3, I have Chiquito(maltese), my Tinkerbell and I think she is pregnant, I just hope I dont get cought if she has alot of babies because I am planning on keeping them all except the one for the stud mommy. My husband just got orders to move to Oklahoma (we are in Texas)and I have been looking for houses there and the limit is 2 dogs as well I hope my husband can delete those orders..... Good luck finding a place that will take all your babies. Where are you stationed?

| Ditto! Military spouse living in post housing at the moment. We were worried about the pet limit as well. The housing is run by a managment company here. I went to their website to find info regarding pets. I found out that we can get an addendum for additional pets. So all we need to do is fill out a questionaire with the new pet's info, sign it and turn it in. If you have to live in an apt, maybe start training them now for barking and manners? I'd imagine it could be fairly stressful trying to hide an additional pet if you were worried about a sound or behavior giving you away. Ivy |

| Well, I am an active duty US Navy personnel. I am a little worried going back to the US from Japan. Technically, we are only supposed to have the 2 pets in housing. I have 3 currently. My retriever, yorkie, and my cat. We are only supposed to bring 2 on our flight back. But, I think I may be able to get around that. I am just a little worried. But, for your situation, as stated above...keep them separate, and I wouldn't walk the yorkies at the same time...that way, if people only see you with the one, and your schnauzer they wont think twice about you having 3 dogs. But, if they have different hair cuts, this might not work.

| I hope you are able to figure something out to keep your babies together. Can't you look at other apts? I'm sure not all are 2 dog limits? I'm sorry I'm no help as I know nothing about that. Also, I want all of you to know how we are all proud of you and your spouses to put themselves on the front line of this war. God bless and send them our well wishes for their safe return!

YT Addict | I am also a Military spouse My advice to you is look in to renting a house. Its about the same price plus utilities but the landlords are usually more easy going with pets in a house as oposed to an apt. Thats what we do anyways. Good luck and keep us posted |

| The only people who I have known to have aproblem are people going overseas. We just got out of a situation like that. We always buy houses wherever we go and w emove every 2 years. It has made us a lot of money to buy rather than rent! |

| We are currently stationed in VA (Yorktown, but we lived in NN). I am at home in SC right now since he had to go to Afghanistan for a year long deployment. He should be home in Oct and then we will most likey be moving to VA again for about 8 months or so...then he is planning on taking a school in San Diego. I am feeling better this afternoon. I am going to call around tomorrow and see what I can find out. We only lived on base housing once bc our apt had problems. We usually just rent out in town. Isn't there a waiting list for the housing? And what do you do until you get a house? Also, I think his school is only 6 months long...so he is approved to bring along family but I don't know if he would be approved for housing? Thank you for all your replies everyone! I really appreciate all your advice. Last edited by Brandnugirl; 07-12-2007 at 01:14 PM. |

We were thinking the same thing....Walk Maggie and one of the girls...then just walk one of the girls by herself...they look so much alike no one would notice. They are not loud or a nuisance. | |
