| Im crying my eyes out..stupid me!! Guys I am so upset right now...mostly with myself!! As you may or may not know I have 5 dogs... Tonight my neighbour came over to complain about the barking of my dogs...not only outside but inside also...yes they do bark outside and yes they do bark outside...NOT excessively but YES they do bark...this I can possibly stop with bark collars...but what I cant control is the fact that in my municipality I can only have two dogs!!!! I DID know this but my own greed and love for dogs has gotten me in over my head... Sadie our Boykin Spaniel came with my common law husband...she is 6 years old and we cant possibly part with her...at least he wont!! She is a loud barker when someone passes by but sweet as a teddy bear.. Darla our yorkie/bichon is 1 1/2 years old...very timid...VERY yappy...but very much my daughters best friend... Reece MY BABY BOY...I dont have anything else to say about that...he stays!! Gracie our 4 month old Shih Tzu is going to my very best friend in the world...Im very happy and secure about that decision.. The hardest part...Soleil...our newest baby...Reece's darling little sister...so young I know..easy to rehome...but my god...I just cant do it...she is so beautiful..so loving..already my life.. Darla I could part with...she isnt attached to anyone but my daughter...but how do I pull her apart from her dog?? I cant take away my husbands best bud of 6 years...Reece is my son.. She hasnt called the police yet (my neighbour) but the barking HAS to stop she said....so we will get bark collars immediately...but she has consulted the police to see if she has a leg to stand on...they told her she has TWO legs to stand on...the noise...and the amount of dogs...she only thinks we have THREE!! I am a TOTAL idiot for breaking the law...my stupid heart what was I thinking?? Even if I keep them quiet...who knows if and when animal control will show up and take them from me...leaving me with quick decisions to make.. Im going to call the municipality and see if we can get away with claiming the two dogs as my common laws and two as mine...and tell them he is a border...we are new to this town and no one really knows if we are a couple or just roomates for that matter.. I only have the one neighbour and the noise is very minimal...they just do not go on and on and on...I couldnt stand that myself...but the law is the law is the law...my heart is breaking right now...and today is my birthday...I just dont know what to do or where to turn...I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out... Sorry for the extremely long post...I am just soooo very upset...how could I have done this to my babies...I cant imagine them having to leave us...what would they do?? What would I do?? Dawn |

My Lil Man! Donating Member | Goodluck with everything! I would definitely try for the 2 are yours and 2 your "roommate's". Let us know what you find out! Goodluck! I know it would kill me to have to decide who to find new homes for. Shoot I would probably rather try to move somewhere else. Lol! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oh, Dawn, I am so sorry to hear this. Is there someone in your family who could take one of the other dogs? You might be able to get away with having THREE, one being much easier to conceal than three! If not, can you possibly move? I know that's drastic, but if you would have to let your babies go otherwise ... Sorry I don't have any good answers for you. And it really sucks that this all comes down on your birthday. That just shouldn't be allowed!!!!! I pray that a special present comes your way in the form of a really good solution! |

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | I'm with the finding a new place to live. Maybe in the country. I live in the country and no-one will tell me how many babies to have.

| I wish you did not have to make this decision ... I was not aware that any town could put a limit on how many dogs you can own. I guess I am going to stop at 2. I wish you the best ... it is too sad to even think about. BTW, happy birthday!

| Two is such a small limit! Here it is 4 dogs/cats per household which i think is retarded (one of the reasons I don't register my pets). I know here you can apply for a kennel permit and its easy to get. I think they just check out where the dogs live and make sure they have proper food and water and all and you pay a fee for the liscense. I think AC needs to stop worrying about those that have a couple extra dogs and start looking at those that aren't even taking care of the ONE they have properly. I'm sure there are ways to get around the law... Maybe you can talk to that neighbor and tell her how important your dogs are and how they are a big part of your family. Tell her you are working on the barking starting immediately and to please give you some time to work on it. I agree that I would move before rehoming them. I hope it works out for you. I'm sorry you're having to go through this. Some laws are so retarded! It just pisses me off that they worry so much about things like this when there are dogs dying from neglect every day. Why don't they put a little more effort into seizing those dogs and saving them than take away cared-for dogs?

| Thanks for all your support guys...I talked to my husband at work and have been scouring online for ideas...tomorrow we get bark collars...then we deal with animal control IF the time comes...he told me not to worry about it so much unless I have to..out of sight out of mind...I hope.. I have been researching about a kennel licence and if I am reading it right..to have a kennel I must be OUT of town and have purebred or working dogs...I have thought about trying to get them through a therapy dog type thing..that would qualify them as working dogs would it not?? I can not possibly move at this time...we just moved here in October and I live in a small town of 900...not too many possible moves available at this time...also if Im reading right...the law is the same in our county and I cannot possibly leave the county as we work here and my kids go to school here.. I am going to try and not worry about it until I have too..thanks for the birthday wishes I truly appreciate your support...I knew I could rely on you for help and ideas.. Dawn |

| For now I think watch and wait is the best plan. And if AC comes around, how will they know which dogs are yours and which ones you are watching? Hey, how about get a license for a doggy day care? What is involved with that? We will get you through this. Where I live, there is an ordinance of 3 animals per household. No one abides by it. I have 5. They are all indoor and quiet as mice. Only 3 are licensed. In the eyes of the county, I am legal. I take four to the same vet. They have never said a thing. The other goes elsewhere. I think as long as I take care of them, who is to complain?
