| All dogs, not just dogs that are in the toy category, are usually adults at 12 months of age. |

| toy A Yorkie will be a TOY until the day it dies..it will be an adult after 18 months..I say that because they have 12 to 18th puppy classes in many shows. I agree with 2 yrs...! Last edited by YorkieRose; 07-07-2007 at 04:25 PM. |

| A dog who is a "toy breed" will always be considered a toy breed, no matter how young or old. I think of dogs as being an adult at one year since that is the age my vet usually takes them off of puppy food and puts them on adult dog food. |

Just wanted to add, all Yorkies are classified as a toy breed regardless of SIZE as well. A 3 pound Yorkshire Terrier is a toy breed, a 15 pound Yorkshire Terrier is a toy breed. I have seen many (bad) breeders trying to sell "toy" Yorkshire Terriers, claiming they are "toys" because they are smaller. | |
