AKC Papers and Coloring? How do you know what color they are for their AKC papers when they are still in the black puppy stage? Is there anyway to tell? The breeder forgot to mark which one he is, so I was just going to do it but I have no idea how to tell? |
I don't think theres any way of knowing when they are little. My breeder marked black and tan on both of mine. My girl is now turning silver. |
papers It is pretty much a guess since they are registered long before true color appears..AKC don't mind breeders guessing. |
The breeder marked black & tan on Mackenzie's papers too ;) |
Coloring Mine were both marked black and tan or blue/black and tan and now one is really black and tan and the other beige and silver. |

AKC coloring records are not historically accurate. They even have parti-colored yorkies in the past listed as black and tan so we just have to realize this fact and not rely on it for true color in a pedigree. This is why some breeders also register with other registries who use the true the color of the dog. |
