why is it so much ?? im looking threw petfinder at some puppies and the adoption fees are over 300 dollars i think more people would adopt if they were less money  |
I often wonder that too...Some places (like where my sister got her rescue) use the money to pay for vet fees...rent...things like that... |
I guess they count in the spay and neuter, i really don't know. They also don't want to make it to easy for just anyone to adopt and then not be responsible petowners. That is my opinion. Some of these pets have had very rough lives to begin with and they want to insure that they go to the best of homes. To cheap would mean that anyone could buy them and then turn around and not be responsible.I think $300 is a good price. |
i would rather save that money for the dog (vet bills toys food) just because they can pay 300 doesnt mean they will be a good pet owner |
In our rescue dogs are rehomed for a donation of at least £100 more if the person can afford it - we have to pay for vets fee's, rent, food, toys, heating, transport, insurance and often we "buy" dogs out of awful situations if people don't want to hand them over to us for free. All these things cost money I'm afraid, and if someone can't afford the donation how would they afford the cost of owning the dog ? |
I'm sure there are alot of fees that we are not aware of. I don't think $300 is asking alot when it helps these poor guys, and keeps the place in business so that more dogs can be rescued. But then again, I could be wrong...just like the SPCA guy on 20/20...they could be in it for the money...but I would like to think something else. |
