Traveling OverSeas with Your Yorkie Hi everyone, I travel from time to time to South America and i would like to know if anyof you have traveled overseas with your doggie and he/she were in the cabin with you. I contacted some airlines and i get two diff. answers. One said its poss then i called back and they said i was miss informed and that all pets traveling overseas have to travel in cargo. However, a friend of mine just traveled to internationally to the dominican republic and another passenger was traveling with a jack russel terrier IN THE CABIN! so this info gives me some hope, but i was wondering if any of you would know anything or have experienced anything like this. anyones feed back would be EXCELLENT! thanks alot

It depends on your destination I would imagine - all dogs coming into UK have to be in the hold in properly constructed containers.

I think it depend on the airline policy. Different airline has different policy. Also check the requirement of bring a dog into South America. Some countries are very strict and requires health & vaccination record, microchips, etc....

Here is some info you might find helpful. Ecuador: Embassy of Ecuador 2535 - 15th Street, NW Washington, DC 20009 (202) 234-7200 E-mail: mecuawaa@erols.com Pets must have a Veterinary Health Certificate that states they have been vaccinated within sixty days of departure against the following diseases: panleucopenia (cats), distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirosis, rabies, influenzia, and parasites (more than thirty days before embarcation). The certificate must also indicate that the pets have been inspected and identified before embarkation by an official veterinarian, who has found them to be of normal health, without tumors, wounds, or without any quarantined transferable diseases or the presence of ectoparasites. They must be placed in special cages or boxes that have been cleaned and disinfected prior to shipping. The consular fee for the authentication is $50 (US).
