| Some people and dogs...sorry, need to vent Hubby and I went to visit a family member last weekend, we took Pepper with us, as they said that wouldn't be a problem as they have a dog too and the pups would play with each other. As it turned out, their dog is not socialized at all, extremely neurotic, yappy and jealous - at barely 1 year old. A schnauzer/poodle mix, has never been groomed in his life, and you can tell, I've never seen such mats on a dog before . He spends his whole life gated in the kitchen as he chews, destroys stuff and is hyper. He is walked on a short leash, they have a huge yard but is not fenced in, they never got invisible fence either , the kids don't take care of the dog at all and the parents both have demanding jobs- doctors... They just let the dog do whatever he pleases, I saw with my own eyes him eating off the tablecloth, with the owner pretending not to see it ... It's just so sad when people take a cute puppy and then when the puppyhood's over - and he sure grew fast - they don't take care of the dog.. Sadder even, it's my own family

| That is sad....sounds like a dog headed to a shelter in a few years or less doesn't it?

| That's too bad. I hope he doesn't end up sheltered. Rehomed maybe.

| Sometimes I think people get a puppy because it is a cute toy. Then it needs training and attention which the owner is not willing or able to provide, then, well..... I was at the pet store the other day and a gal came up to me and asked if Gracie was a Yorkie. I said yes. She smiled. Gracie greeted her and she clumsily bent down and pet her. It was obvious she had never been around a dog before. She then stood up and said "I so want a Maltese, they are so cute". I could have been offended. Rather, I just thought about the poor puppy that might end up with this gal.
