| Sore from Shots // Neutering // Airplane??? Hi everyone.. gatsby (16 weeks old today) went in for his 3rd set of shots which included the rabies shot and the bordetella shot. However, whenever I touch his shoulders (where he got his shots) he yelps and cries. However, he's drinking fine, he also ate a little but not too much and pretty much slept all day. He seems lethargic though... Should I be concerned? secondly. when's the youngest age you guys have travelled with your puppies on a plane? I might take a trip to Korea and take Gatsby with me on the cabin. I was wondering if any of you guys have done this when their puppies were young. He will be 5.5 months when I take him to Korea in August but let me warn you, it's a 13 hour flight!!! eeeks. But have any of you guys taken your dogs out of the country? Finally. Gatsby is 16 weeks old and I want to get him neutered ASAP to avoid leg hiking/humping and other in appropriate behaviors. When did you guys neuter your puppies? He weighs in @ 2.8 lbs today @ the vet. Thanks! |

| Many puppies are sore and tired after shots. I would just keep an eye on him. So far as neutering, a lot of vets wait until 6 months but there are a lot out there that will do early spaying and neutering. I know some vets will neuter after your puppy is at least 2lbs. If I had a male I'd want to neuter as early as possible too.

| bordetella is the clear liquid that gose up their nose and rabies will make a bump or a sore spot for a little but he will be fine you shouldnt neuter a pet until 6months of age i d0nt know about taking one on such a long flight i think i would find a pupsitter

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I took Bella to Florida at 9 months old (on the plane) and as far as shots go did they give your baby some Metacam?? My vet always gives the babies Metacam after giving shots, and alao give me some for later that night. I always get shots in the a.m. encase they have reaction the vets office is open all day. Metacan is what my vet calls puppy motrin/tylenol. Maybe ask for that next time?? I think the dosage for a lil one as yours would be like .15 ML Bella at about 5 pounds is .30 ML Hope that helps!

| i took Rocky last month to get his Rabies shot as well as his booster shots and that night i tried to pick him up and he nipped at me like he was in pain so i didnt even try and pick him up but the next day he was still in pain and i was so worried thought he might have eaten something and couldnt pass it through his intestines. So i took him to the animal hospital they took him did blood test, xray and couldnt see any abstructions so $370 dollars later they told me to take him home that it could be a reaction to his shots. Sure enough as soon as we got him he passed poop and the next day he was his old self again. So if your baby seems to be a little better in a day i would say hold of on taking him to the vet or hospital unless you see anything weird like your baby not moving or anything then you should take him. But i was so worried that something happened to him that if i would of known that it was due to his shots i would of waited. Although it kinda gave me a lil piece of mind knowing he didnt have anything abstructing his bowel.
