| Is it bad to buy from a pet store that sells puppies? I'm torn on this subject. I live in Philadelphia and there really aren't that many pet stores. However, there is this one huge pet store. They have ever thing I need- Canidae, fish food, etc. BUT they also sell puppies (which I have heard come from the Hunts (or however it's spelled) Corp.). I try not to buy from them, but it's really hard. Like I said, it's really convient and they have every I need. Is it bad if I buy from them? Would you buy pet supplies from a pet store that also happens to sell puppies?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I don't. I won't step foot in a store that sells puppies - but then I live in Houston and we have choices. IF it was a choice between Petland (who SUCKS) close by... and a store that didn't sell puppies a long drive away - I'd do the drive and just stock up. |

| NEVER...If I happen to go into a new store, I do a complete loop, it they sell animals I am out the door. It's never a question for me. I know you must be faced with a hard decision, but I'm in agreement with V. I'd rather drive farther than support millers in any way. My $1 spent in that store would be causing suffering to many many many animals, I just don't have the conscious for that |

| Its your choice, but I'd probably do the same thing as Villette, stock up on big supplies from the other pet store. That way even if you have to make a stop there every once in a while for little things you need, you won't be contributing too much to their bad practices. Also, make sure to make it known why you don't want to shop there. Write them a letter and let them know that you will not be supporting them because of their selling of puppies.

| I woulndn't personally because you are giving money to a company who is giving money to a puppymill. I just found out that PetCo gets it's bunnies form a puppy mill so no more PetCo for me. If nobody supported companies that support petmills I honestly think it would make a big difference. Hey Kyle, when are we going to see you over at Millbusters?

BANNED! | There are so many wonderful breeders here on YT, so why would you support puppymills. Don't buy from petstores, get a wonderful yorkie from a good quality breeder. Check out the nursery, breeder forum and featured breeder forum... |

| I try not to-I go online for many products. I know it is hard because they are everywhere. I can't stand going in and seeing the animals. I feel so sorry for them. It seems like these places will always be around because so many places uses them. I heard Paris Hilton wanted to come out of her ordeal and have a cause-do something constructive. I wish she would take animal cruelty as a cause-puppy mills and what they are doing to animals in China. I was referred to a site-furisdead and wish I had never went to it-it showed hidden video of what is being done in China to dogs and cats for fur. It has been a year since I watched the video and I can't get it out of my mind. I refuse to buy any coats made in China that have even "fake" fur on the collars since it may be dog fur. Anyways.... I wish Paris would take up this cause.

| I won't buy supplies or food and such from a petstore that sells puppies because I don't want to contribute to them staying in business. I would buy a whole bunch online.

| I live in a very small, rural area. The nearest pet store is Petsmart--they are two different ones located about 1 hour from me (in different directions). Whenever I get near one, I do shop there and really stock up on some items that I cannot get at Walmart, Target, etc. I have never seen puppies for sale there--only the shelter dogs on Saturday mornings out in front of the store. I would not want my money going to a store that does practice this--is Petsmart okay? Do they sell puppies?

| I used to, but now that I know the truth of puppy mills I tend to buy my products online (and it's usually cheaper). |

| BubblPopElectrc knows better than to buy a dog at a petstore. He was wondering whether he should buy pet supplies at a store that sells puppy mill puppies.

| Buying on-line is a great option plus everything will be delivered to your front door! But I also understand there are time where you do want to brouse or need emergency supplies. Here is a thought.... Go to PetSmart or another large pet retailer and let them know there is a need in your area for a store that are puppy mill free?

| I've been doing all my shopping anymore on line. I don't go to any pet shops at all. Since I home cook, I have no need to buy anything at those places. I especially would never buy from a store that sells pets. |
