| Going on a trip..how do I stop the vomit?? Hello everyone, I wanted everyone's advice on how to prepare for Nemo for his first BBQ trip. I am riding out to CT on Sunday and Nemo has a bit of a problem with car sickness. He's usually good for 20-40 min but then he usually vomits. He's much much better than the beginning and actually jumps into the car when I open the door but I want to avoid accidents. Are there any drugs that I can buy over the counter or any other contraption that might him. The only store's near me is Petco and Petsmart....anything there that I can buy? Also I know Yorkies are supposed to be very allergy friendly but my GF seems to get pretty bad after 30 minutes with him. What do you suggest. Does anyone on the board have allegories to their pets?? Thanks guy/gals J.Lopez |

| I think there may be some homepathic remedies but I cant remember the name of it so I am not alot of help. I let Mikayla set on my lap and talk to her and scratch her and she wont get sick then. I dont know how far CT is so that might not be an option. Bring wet wipes and a blanket or something for him to lay on just in case. Maybe she isnt allergic to your dog but allergic to the shampoo you use. Does it have a heavy fragrance? Yorkies are generally hypoallergenic but I know they arent all of the time. I get allergic to mine but I think it is the fragrances which I cant tolerate or if they run and play outside and carry in the grasses and that sort of thing. I have terrible allergies. Hope someone can come up with a remedy that works for you. Have fun at the BBQ Last edited by CO_yorkie_momma; 06-22-2007 at 04:47 PM. |

| Call your vet and ask. I think there is some medication they can give them.

| Try not to feed him much before the trip. It might be better if he can see out of the window and don't let him hide under a blanket, that just makes it worse. The best cure for motion sickness is to stop moving. So if you notice that he's getting sick, stop for a little while if you can and let him get his "land legs" before you start out again. Can you plan on 3 hrs for the trip with some 15 min stops worked in there somewhere? That might make the trip easier on him. I had a yorkie mix that would vomit and have loose poops on long trips. Yucky. My daughter has asthma and she is allergic to all dogs and cats. Her dog allergy is not to the dander or hair it's to their saliva. She comes to our home and has to use her Singulair first then she's ok. Yorkies, like Maltese and other breeds, are hypoallergenic as to the fact that there's no dander/undercoat and their coat is the texture of hair not fur. I hope some of this works for you, let us know how it goes.
