I found a dog today! Hi everyone, well today this little white dog basically came up to my door. Though he is not a yorkie, I still love the little guy. I think he is a bichon or maybe a poodle mix. He was covered in fleas and his hair was soooo matted. So I gave him like a 30 minute bath outside. Then I gave him a flea treatment. I also had to cut of chunks of his hair. Afterwards, he seemed so thankful and happy. I gave him food and water and made him a little home in my garage, which connects to my backyard. I feel bad leaving him out there right now, but I don't think it'd be a good idea letting him sleep inside. He was inside for a while and he did spray a few times. I don't want anything to happen to Riley or Charlie (my roommate's dog). I made some fliers to post and posted on craigslist. I'm gonna call the shelters tomorrow to see if anyone is looking for him. But really, it seems like he's been on his own for a while. But then again, he also seems to have once had a family. I'm kinda nervous about his future. I refuse to bring him to a shelter, but I have doubts that I will find his owners. I wanna take him to the vet tomorrow to get scanned for a chip, and get checked out. He is not nuetered, and his testicals look black. Is that normal in some dogs? I'm guessing not. Any advice? He is so sweet and just wants to follow me around and sit on my lap. He was doing silly little spinning jumps, too. If I don't find his owner, or find him a good home for a while, then I'll probably become attached to him. That's all I need is three dogs in the house. Poor lil' pup. Oh yeah, Riley seems to get along with him considering, but then he did snap one time and try to attack him. What would you all do? Anyone know a cheap (or free clinic) vet for circumstances like this?

Sounds like he knew that you were the home to go to for help. If he's a Bichon, you are going to be head-over-heels for him!! They are the sweetest breed! I have a Bichon/Maltese that is the best little guy!! Would love to see pictures of him. Good luck~ Tammy

| Call around to some vet clinics. I did it once when someone gave us a cat. I was like we just inherited this cat and I need to get it shots and fixed but I don't have the money blah blah. They did it for like $50 or $75 bucks.

Update on "Jack" That's the name I've been calling him. I posted on craigslist and have received a ton of responses from people who want the dog. But, I'm not going to just turn him over to someone. I did see an ad for a missing dog, who looks just like him. I keep e-mailing them and it comes back to me as undeliverable. So, I posted a new one, which should grab their attention. I made fliers and posted them around the block, at petco, and the local dog park. I still have more to hang. I just took him to a 24-hour vet to scan for a chip. He had none. I then had him checked out. He is between 2.5-5 years old. He's not nuetered and after talking to the vet, I'm getting concerned about who his owners are. His tail is one huge mat. Even if he's been running around for a while, he just doesn't seem well taken care of. But I really don't know so I can't judge. I had him in the backyard last night and thought he'd be ok with his own little set-up in the garage. I think he fell asleep for a while, but then he started crying. So he came in and slept on my floor. Riley wouldn't let him near the bed. Then today I had to go to work and when I came home he was just standing by the back door waiting. I don't want to keep him inside with Riley when I'm not here. Riley is mean to him sometimes. This dog is 9 lbs, which is smaller than I thought. i do really like him and he is really easy going. But with my roommate's schnauzer and my yorkie, it's kinda a full house. I figure if it comes down to finding him a new home, I'm gonna make applications and have everyone come visit him first.

I really hope that you can find his owners! My Maltese/Bichon has the type of fur that mats SUPERRRRRRRRRRRR easy!!! So, it may that he hasn't been lost that long because I am serious, Bailey's fur gets in a mess almost over night! I bet somebody is really missing this sweet guy. Tammy

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago but the dog was well fed but uncared for otherwise. His owner was frantic and was in her late 80's. They were pissed because I gave him a bath and cut his super matted hair and inch long in-grown toenails...His hair was way more thant a week or so of matting. They had to have had him like this for months and months.

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. I'm out in the yard playing with my 4 yorkies, and up walks this cute as a button little white dog. He's the one in my avatar. (thanks V!) Anyway, I live in the sticks and not sure where he came from. My vet treated him for worms and gave him his shots, says he is probably 5 -6 mos old. Groomer said his haircut was a home job. As far as I know my neighbors have not been looking for any of their dogs and the vet doesn't recognize him; so I've got dog #5!! A Petsmart employee says she thinks he has Pappilion ears and maybe terrier mix. Isn't he cute!!
