| yorkies attacked by birds We have this beautiful red bud tree in my backyard. Earlier this morning I let my babies out to go potty like usual. All of a sudden Elle goes by the tree, like normal again, and all of a sudden these birds start swooping down at Elle, and trying to attack her. One got right by her head. I ran over to protect her, and they are going crazy. There was like 4 of them. I picked up my babies and put them inside and went back over by the tree. I noticed that there was a baby bird on the ground that they were protecting. I'm not sure if it was alive at the time but it is now dead. I think it may have fallen from the tree at the time of the attack cause I noticed something fall, but I just thought it was a swoop of the birds. I'm to the point where that tree is probably going to get cut down this fall. We are tired of it. There are sooooo many nests in there that half of our yard is off limits. Attacking my babies put me over the edge. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

| I had a problem similar to yours. Every new subdivision in Houston have to trees in the front yard that grows to be really really big and there were always nests in there and my son was attack by 5-6 birds because he picked up a baby bird once. We called the Home Owner Association to ask if we could the tree down and they said no because it makes the value of the house higher than the neighboring houses (stupid, I know) so we moved to a new subdivision that was building up. Lets just hope we don't have the same problem again because we would have to go through HOA again. I'm really glad that your little babies are okay. If you can remove the tree without 'asking for permission' then I would do it for the safety of my babies and you get the other half of your yard back. |

| I live in an apartment complex and the neighbors are always feeding birds and hanging up bird feeders. Some of the birds that come are really nasty and will peck you if you sit out in front or will try to peck pets. There used to be a ton of really cute little sparrows who like hopped around and left people alone, now bigger birds are here and bothering everyone and our pets. |

| That tree has got to goooooooooo! We have the HOA to deal with too......any changes to the outside whether it be the house or plants or trees has to be passed by them. Well, I cut down a tree anyway without asking........too bad so sad!!!! ROFL............they never even noticed. I had it done professionally so those guys were like in and out with the blink of an eye!!!! hee hee So that tree has to gooooooooo!

| I think this has been the worst year of birds in that tree. I'm scared of my hubby even mowing the grass over by the tree. My neighbors love that tree and they are going to have heart attacks when we go to chop it down. But they don't own pets or don't have the problems that we go though each and every day fighting with them birds. Like I said earlier, it is a beautiful tree, but my babies mean the world to me, and I would hate to compromise their safety over a tree!

| It's not going to last for a long. Once the fledgings are out of the nest and learn how to fly birds will leave everybody alone and you will have your tree and backyard back. It's usually about 5-6 days. |

| Oh no! Has it been like this every year? It sounds so scary to not even be able to let your baby out in your back yard!

| another fine example of it is easier to say "I am sorry" than to ask permission. Especially when someone may be harmed. (NOT that I am suggesting you break the law) .... Quote:

| Birds are crazy!!!! They sit on my roof and stare down at my babies squarking and swooping at them. They actually tease my doggies!!! Sebastian absolutely hates them and barks at them til they fly away, which is really annoying. Even after that they don't fly away, unless i come out and make noises at them...haha!! The stupid birds don't even have nest to protect and they are annoying as hell, must be even more frustrating when they are protective. Hopefully your problem will be resolved!!! Good Luck with everything!!!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Scary. Birds are notorious giardia carriers too, so it's more scary!
