| Darn Fleas! Fleas are so bad right now in Texas! It didn't really get cold in the winter so I've been hearing that this year they are worse than ever. Poor Lacy is allergic to flea bites and has been so itchy. I've never had a big flea problem but even one flea getting on her makes her itchy. She got fleas on her for the first time this year about a month ago while staying over at a friend's house. I bought advantage a couple days later to put on her. The fleas were gone and she hasn't been scratching as much until this week. I guess the advantage wore off early because I noticed a few fleas on her last night. So the vet recommended Frontline because it is supposed to last longer than advantage. So we're trying that this time. I've also been giving her Children's Benadryl for the allergy. I've given her 3mL 3 times today (vet's suggestion). She's been a little sleepier than normal but at least stops scratching for a while. It just seems worse than ever this year and it seems impossible to keep fleas completely off of her. I guess we'll do all we can though..

| I know what you mean - I'm in Texas, too, and the fleas are horrible! Frontline is expensive, but as far as I know (and I may be wrong), it's the best stuff to use. All of our dogs use Frontline, and we typically don't have many problems. Occasionally when we've been in a common area, they'll pick up a couple fleas, but they never hang around long with the Frontline. This time last year, we had a flea outbreak in our apartment at the time. That was before we knew about Frontline, and this year, we've not seen even a hint of a breakout. I do highly recommend it

| Capstar Pills My vet recommended these for getting rid of live fleas within the hour. I don't know if having some on hand might be helpful to you. This is just a quick fix/emergency treatment. A lot of the vets in my area give pets one when getting groomed or boarded. I have not heard any negative comments on the Capstar pill. Maybe someone at YT can give us both more info.
