Could this be a tatoo? Before I took Buttercup to get him neutered he didn't have anything on his inner thighs. After he got neutered and when I picked him up (which was May 11 of this year) I noticed something on his left (or right ) inner thigh. I didn't think much of it at first. I just thought that it would go away after 2-3 baths. It has now been over a month and that 'thing' is still there. Could it be a tatoo? If it is, I never asked or gave them permission to do it. Here are some pictures of it. I tried the best I could. Sorry for exposing a little too much. Should I call his vet and mention this to him? I don't think I like it very much. He didn't do a very good job on this tatoo (if it is one) Last edited by xBUTTERCUPx; 06-15-2007 at 08:30 AM.

Take him to a business that does tattoo's and ask their opinion. If it is a tattoo then go back to the Vet. and find out why they did that. If you did not request one then you may want to find out your rights to file charges.

| Thats exactly what it looks like to me! But it looks as though somebody did an awful job... Can you even make out numbers or letters??? Yikes! if thats truely what it is.... I'd throw a serious fit! I'll tell you who can verify it for you! ANOTHER VET! Just pop in to an office and ask the girls at the front desk and they'll be curious enough to grab a tech for you! They will give you an answer... No appointment, no charge. But don't give them the whole story about the other vet... then they won't want to get involved... tell them you just adopted the dog and are curious...

It doesnt look like any tatto I have seen done by a vet ,they usually do some numbers and letters.I moved your photo into my photoshop program and tried to get a better look at it. It looks like a design of some sort and not a number and letter series like what my one dog has in her ear . So unless vets are getting really creative these days Im not sure what it is Eileen

I can't see it too well but I'm thinking, because of the dark blue coloring, perhaps it's broken blood vessels! Having just been neutered this could have happened.

| it looks to me like the sign for male (you know the circle with an arrow coming out of it) and that it has a line through it. Maybe that means neutered? (as if it wouldn't be obvious he was neutered anyway) Still, if the didn't ask you first I would not be very happy about it.

I've been trying to examine it with a magnifying glass and what I see is an X inside of a box. I showed it to one of my neighbors (who is a vet tech) and he said it is a tattoo (a horrible one too). I called his vet and asked him about it and he said he doesn't remember because it was over a month ago and he has a lot of pets that he see each day. He told me that if it was done then it would be notated in his files but it's not in his files. I know for a fact that he didn't have that before. I am so upset. What do I do now? The vet won't admit to this. He's thinking I got it done somewhere and they messed it up and now I'm throwing all the blame on him.

Maybe you could have your vet just take a look and see if it looks like the tatoos they do. That is very strange!

I'm bringing him in at 3:00 today so they can look at it but from what they said on the phone, it seems as if they're denying it. I really don't know. I'm totally confused and upset at the same time. These people just don't understand. I guess they're all in it for the money

Maybe they had a tattoo job that day and picked the wrong dog and stopped before it was finished?

That looks really strange to me...I am curious to know what the vet has to say about it. Tammy
