| Yorkies in the pool Does anyone take their yorkies swimming? I need some pointers on how to play with Saffron in the pool. I took her in yesterday & today cause she seemed so hot. Think she liked it. (Well, she didn't fuss or anything & seemed relaxed for the most part) I held her to my chest & walk-floated around. Then I let her go (with my hands under her but not touching) & let her swim about 1 foot to the stairs. My pool is above ground so there's no shallow end...not that she'd be tall enough for it if I did have one. I use Bacquacil (sp) instead of chlorine, which I find much gentler. Her hair felt like it had conditioner on it when it dried. I also have a life jacket for her. Thought I could use it when we play alittle "catch the floaty ball". Tried it out but she didn't seem overly keen on it. Think I'll have to keep getting her used to it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Marty |

| I have had Lily in our pool the last couple of days. I put her on a kick board and push her around. She seems to like it but doesn't get to excited about swimming. She likes to walk across all the tubes and mats floating in the pool. I don't really know how to play with her either until she decides she likes to swim.

| I have a kiddle pool that is big enough for me to put a float in and lay on it to sun.....it will hold about a foot of water...I put Romeo in it this weekend and he just started dog paddling around..then he hopped on my and just looked around...he seemed to like it....I'll try it again this weekend...we've got a heat index of 107 now!

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | my puppy is a waterhog too. the only thing we can do now is put him in the bathtub so he can get used to the feel of water. i would just take it slow and not rush her too much. if you have a kiddy pool that would be good until she gets really into it. if not then just take it slower and don't give it to her all at once! good luck. |

| We haen't opened out big pool yet hopefully this weekend but we did get Bella a kiddie pool. She loves it in there, she wasn't sure about it at first but now loves it. We also bought a kids sprinkler and let her play in that.. Just keep her going in the water, she will get used to it and eventually like it.

| I would just love to see Tino & Bunny in the pool! If I wasnt in a condo I would DEFINITELY get them a kiddie pool! Hopefully by next summer they will at least have a little one for them!

| A kiddie pool is a good idea. I think I'll get one so that Saffron can "practice swim" when she's not in the big one. I think she's definitely going to be a "water baby"....which is good as we're having a heat wave this week! |

| Yep, like natalie said, we have a pool and the yorkes love it, Hefner the most, although Chai has been jumping in on her own a lot lately. Hefner likes to play Captain of the float and has many adventures on his seaworthy craft! I have a life jacket and a skamper ramp and I train them to swim to the step or to the ramp from wherever they are in the pool so that if they were ever to fall in when no one was around, they would not panic and would know how to get out. Here are some pictures: |

| Kim, I LOVE the photos of your babies in the pool! They look like they're having a blast! Thanks so much for posting them! Not to be greedy (but I am),I'd love to see more furbabies in the pool photos. They're just so cute! What a great idea..."the ramp"! Do you know where I can find one? If not I'll check online. Although my pool is above ground, it has regular stairs, not a ladder so I could hook the ramp to it. Marty |

| Sully swims too (not sure how much he likes it, though, haha!) I don't have any tips, really....but I wanted to say that Sully swims too...in hotel pools when we can get away with it, haha! He doesn't like it much - I'm sure he'd do much better with a life jacket on But anyway, my husband and I thought it was funny to take pictures of him in the pool with us @ a hotel in N.C.... And I'm a professional swim teacher (6 years experience, certified), so found it quite amusing to give my dog one of my "swimming lessons" Haha!

| Thanks, Marty! He is a good swimmer....and he's only had one "lesson"! (haha). He got in at the park the other day, into the creek there, trying to catch the ducks. It was really funny. When I get home from work tonight I'll upload the video we took of Sully in the pool. It's a riot!
