| Carpet fresheners.... So today, when I got home from work, I was greeted by something I'm never greeted by.....the Yorkie. Now, this was a HORRIFIC find because he isn't pottytrained and needs to be in his kennel. So now we have a problem...sure, I can pick out where the turds are...that's not a problem...but the urine is another story....so I have about 3 rooms now that I'll have to clean just to make SURE I get it all....any good way to clean or freshen that amount of area without breaking my back?? I can't believe I was so careless as not to ensure that crate door was locked....arrrrgh. Live and learn. |

| Oh my these little ones always find a way out don't they. Well mine are 100% pad trained now so they get to have the entire downstairs with the exception of the formal living room that is gated. Most of the time they are in the family room but one day they were able to move the gate going upstairs and since they know how to go up and do not know how to come down they were all day upstairs with no food and no pads but I do not have carpet anywhere in my home except for my formal living room which they are not allowed in and a area rug in my family room. I use baking soda and it works. Sometimes I get the arm & hammer carpet powder and that works pretty good too. I don't use it in my formal living room because the carpet is brand new but I do use it on the are rug and so far so good. Even takes away the smell from when they come from outside. |

| Get a blacklight and some good quality cleaner made specifically for urine. I like Nature's Miracle (you can buy it at petco or petsmart) and it's all natural. |

| Do a search for blacklight...there was another post about that recently, maybe in the training section? The poster said that Walmart has them for less than $10 I think and that they show urine clearly in carpet. That should help you narrow down your cleaning area. Then spot clean with an enzyme-based cleaner...Petco or Petsmart has them, but I found one at Walmart. Do NOT use anything with an amonia base, they smell that as urine and think, "here's my spot!" lol. My carpet is NOT new, so the whole blacklight expedition terrifies me! Good luck and don't blame your baby too much!

| Like the trainer at PetSmart told my husband and I when we were training Bubba (note the use of his name "when your dog pees on the rug, get a rolled up newspaper and hit yourself in the head while saying "watch the dog more closely" It only takes once for us to start checking those gates carefully. Do try the Natures Miracle, it does work but sometimes you have to do it more than once but it's the only thing I have found so far (and I've cleaned up alot with my 2 little pee and poop machines). It's very hard but eventually they get it and yours is just a baby. Mine are 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 and we are just getting to the point where I feel comfortable leaving them out of the crate when I go out.
