Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | What have you learned from YorkieTalk? I did this same thread a while back, but we have a lot of new members, so I thought it would be educational to do it again. Plus I'll bet my current list is different than my earlier one. * Don't punish a dog if you catch them having an accident in the house. Instead, praise when they do it right elsewhere. * Keep vet's phone number and emergency vet's number in your cell phone. * How to express anal glands. Ugh. * What reverse sneezing is * Yorkies and Yorkie owners are a lot alike * Puppymills suck * How to teach Play Dead, Roll Over and Crawl. * Carseats are smart * Harnesses are essential * Frequent baths aren't bad. * Listen to your heart, not your wallet There's tons more, but those came to mind first.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | COOL POST ! I'm kind of shy ... but will TRY to express what I've learned ok...I learned ......I'm NOT Shy LOL I've learned the good people balance out the awful people in the world I've learned most ALL people here are just like me - we totally love our dogs I've learned more about breeding here than anywhere else even though I'm not a breeder I've learned maybe too many people are breeding these days & wish some would rethink their reasons I've learned our voices REALLY can make a difference in a dogs life (RE:Brushy Creek Kennels) I've learned after 25 thousand posts .... I still LOVE this site and have never been bored thanks to the people here. I can honestly say some of the friends I've made have become very special to me....being online doesn't mean superficial friendship - some are very real |

| Okay here is my list: * I am NOT the only one that does "daft" things just to please my yorkie. * My Millie is NOT the only Yorkie with a quirky personality and the quirky needs that go with it. * There are lots of men who adore Yorkies. * Yorkies are finicky eaters as a general rule, so I don't worry so much about Millie anymore. * What is and is not a good choice for chew toys. * Why training your puppy to potty outside is a very good thing. * Yorkies are irresistible and therefore, spoiling them is only natural and quite frankly, unavoidable. * There is a "sliding scale" on peoples opinions of what the definition of housebroken means. * YTers are definitely passionate about their babies and their perspective and definition of "abusive" behavior on the part of others. Those are just a few things. There are many more.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | 2 more from me I learned you can hurt and cry for dogs and people you've never met I learned that Freakin Laundry will ALWAYS be there waiting - no matter how hard you try to ignore it |

YT 500 Club Member | I learned that my Yorkie is pretty much like everyone else's Yorkie. I learned that I really am not a "nut" because I love my Yorkie so much. I learned about a good conditioner, and it is much cheaper than the one at Petco. I learned that there are so many other people like me who love their Yorkies.

| I can't believe how much I have actually learned from this site. The biggest one for me is about the Hawks and good quality pet food! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've learned: *That there ARE Yorkies bigger than mine. *About all kinds of Yorkie illnesses I never heard of before. *Just HOW bad commercial dog food is. (We've homecooked always because I knew it was bad. Just not HOW very bad!) *That, collectively, Yorkies have got to be the most spoiled breed of dog ever. (And that that's OK, because we go overboard, too!) *Most importantly: That there are LOTS of kind, caring, and generous people left in the world. (You just can't find them out there that often because they're all online. ) |

| I've learned that -it's important to speak out against animal abuse. -that it's vital to question potential breeders -it's okay to prefer your dog to some people -it's important to question the advice or instructions given by a vet -that yorkies have special needs -that yorkie "kisses" are the best way to cure depression! Thanks for being here Yorkie Talk!!

| I learned my dogs are normal Yorkies! Their antics and lack of discipline is normal! I used to worry WAY too much... but coming here and reading things Ive learned to loosen up a bit with them... afterall even though they are 'my kids' they are dogs too and I dont need to be a crazy lady just because I own Yorkies! haha

| I can never list everything I have learned in the few months I have been on here but here are a few: * YT people are the best most caring people I have ever "met". Even though we don't share coffee over the back fence these people send out prayers, encouragement, money, time and just about anything someone asks from them and do it willingly. * thanks to Cindy I know everything I never wanted to know about bully stix..she even ordered some for Murfee! * I learned that Science Diet sucks * I have learned more about yorkie problems...liver shunts, trachea problems etc than I ever knew existed. * I have learned that I am not the only crazy lady who thinks her little baby is the most precious beautiful wonderful little guy that ever existed. * I learned that more people than just me think their dogs are better friends than most people. * I have also learned that there are some really stupid hard headed people out there who are "raising" poor little babies. * I learned that yorkies can even live in Alaska....where there is lots of snow!!! But I think most of all I learned that I missed out on a lot of friendships before I came to this wonderful caring site. Patty |
