| Hello...I am new Hi Everyone I live in South Africa and recently got my first little Yorkie, she is 3 and a half months old. I have two questions: 1) She does her business in the house I have tried everything to get her to go outside but she does not want too...any other ideas? 2) When I bought her the breeder said she would be minature, but when I took her to the vet yesterday she is already 2.5kg, which is about 5 pounds, any idea how big she will be? Thanks |

| If she is already 5 lbs at 3 1/2 months I would say she is going to be bigger than the standard 7lbs. But I guess you never really know for sure. My baby is 18 weeks and she only weighs 3.5 and should wind up at 5-5.5 lbs full grown if you follow the growth charts. My breeder also stated this way back when I got her. As for potty training, I would say that 14 weeks is still young and to be patient. I take Zoe out first thing in the morning after being crated all night and the very first thing she does is go pee and poop. The rest of the time, she's not real good with it. I have to watch her and remember to take her out evey few hours to go pee and then later in the afternoon and evening to do both. Sometimes she does well, other times, she doesn't. I never get mad at her though, she just doesn't understand and it means that I wasn't doing my job good enough by watching her. Good Luck! |

| Welcome to YT YT is so informative...I hope you enjoy it here! As for potty training, most here at YT know I am not an expert at it--my Emmy is over a year and still has many accidents in the house! Little Oscar, my new baby, is only 12 weeks old, so maybe I will do better with him! Good luck with your new furbaby!

| You will need to devote a couple of days completely (maybe weekend?) to watch her and take her outside very often. Especially after sleep and eating, after play etc. Take her for a small walk around and watch carefully her outside. It is very easy to miss her doing her business because they are very quick at this age on doing wee-wees and do not really dip down low to notice it. Ounce you saw her - praise and give treat right away (but do not get over excited, you will scare her). Say her something like "good girl, you are doing pee-pee" while she does it. After awhile if you say "pee-pee" she will know what you mean. Do the same when she goes on potty pads inside. She has to learn what "pee-pee" means. Remember, you will have to be very watchful and consistent. When she knows what pp means stop giving treats when she does on potty pads and give them only outside. She will learn quickly that it is better to wait. |

| Hi welcome to YT. I started training by little boy to go outside at 12 weeks. I bought some potty bells and hung it on the door. Then for the next week every 3 hrs i took him down stairs rung the bell and said "go potty" , when he did thing business i gave him a treat, said "good boy" and made a big deal about it. In 2 weeks he and his sister rings that bell like its going out of style. . Honestly the only time they may have an accident, is when its storming outside and they miss the pee pad Good luck with your training

| Welcome to you and your baby. The first year with these guys takes a lot of time, patience, persistance and consistance. LOTS of time and work, but if done correctly, it pays off in the end. |
