| Does the runt stay a runt? Hi guys You have always given me excellent advice and information so here goes another question...is there a connection with birth weight and how big the dog will be?? In other words, is the runt of the litter always going to be a runt??

| The runt doesn't always stay small. I've heard of people who have bought a runt and it grew to average weight. However I bought a runt and she has stayed small so you never really know,

| Hmmmm... I'm not sure. I think if you keep the runt healthy, they won't always be a runt, unless they were born with a condition. I reckon runts can grow up healthy like the other pups, with extra TLC!

| Heck no! Well, not always at least. Yoda was the runt of the litter, and while the breeder said he would probably be 4.5 or 5 pounds, he's a full grown 6.5 to 7 right now, bigger than both his Mom and Dad. A lot depends on how and what you feed your Yorkie. We fed him a bit TOO well when he was a baby. |

| I think if the dog is well fed and well taken care of , he'll have a good adult weight . Maybe not like the others . |

| In my experience it depends very much on the first few months and how well they thrive then. Good feeding and lots of TLC can make a tiny grow as big as the rest of the litter. |

| A lot of people like to go by that Yorkie chart that was posted. They don't always stay the smallest of the litter, but there is a chance that they will. A lot of people are happy to have the small ones. To tell you the truth, I was expecting smaller puppies this time becuase the male I bred Tiah with was so tiny. Still....big puppies. You said that yours are gaining every day, and that is WONDERFUL! |
