| Proper Weight? Okay, I know everyone asks how big their baby is going to be.... That's not exactly my question here. I want to know what the proper weight for Summerlin should be. Her mother weighed about 6 1/2 pounds, her daddy weighed about 4 pounds. This is her weights as far as I have recorded: 2 lbs 2 oz @ 9 wks 2 lbs 14 oz @ 12 wks 4 lbs 2 oz @ 15 wks 5 lbs 2 ozs @ 18 wks 6 lbs 8 ozs @ 6 months She eats about 1 1/2 cups of nutro ultra and beneful puppy mixed together each day. She seems to drink plenty of water. She gets 3-4 treats of various kinds each day and she has a teaspoon of Missing Link with her food. When I eat breakfast, I usually give her a bit of my cereal or toast. And at dinner, she usually gets a bit of my vegetables. I am very picky about what she gets to eat - no spicy, salty or fatty foods. The woman said that she shouldn't be much over 6 pounds, and she's not, really. I just want to know if I should limit what she eats. I have attached some pics without clothes, so that you can see her body shape. How do I know when her weight is too much for her frame? I don't want her to have health problems because I let her overeat.....

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | My vet says you should feel a curve around the ribs or something like that. She looks thin and healthy to me.....Your vet should be able to tell you. I have 3 yorkies in my family all from same breeder just different litters....they are 5 pounds 6 pounds and 7 pounds. never know what size they will get. Your baby looks great to me! Very cute face!

| a few things... you should see a "waist" on your dog when looking from on top... it should curve in... with Layla i have to get her wet because she has so much hair! also when looking at their their ribs-belly... the stomach should go up from the ribs, not be rounded down.. and you shuold be able to feel her ribs without feeling a layer of fat in between... it sounds like you are feeding her just fine and she looks great! as long as she is getting lots of exercise (which with these little guys is easy to do!) i think you are doing a great job... she is SO pretty! |

| She looks perfectly healthy to me. You wouldn't want a dog so tiny. I kind of wished mine was a little bit bigger. |

| I would say that by the sound of her weight and her age she is doing great....She sure is a cutie She's just a lil bit ahead of my furbaby.... 11 wks she was 2 lbs 8oz 14 wks 3 lbs 1 oz and today when she saw her vet she is at 4 lbs @ 17 wks....I'm not sure how much she will weigh full grown...but that doesn't matter to me...I just love her sooooooo much and want her to be healthy/happy....I talked to my vet today as her food intake just didn't seem like enough and I got the green light to go ahead and feed her more....she was getting 1/3 cup a day...but now think I'm going to increase it to 1/2 cup a day..1/4 in the morning and 1/4 in the evening....

| Thanks everyone! I just don't want her to get too "fat" and have health problems. It's a major ordeal to go to the vet, because there is not one here in the town I live in, he's in the next town over.... I plan on getting her spayed, hopefully within the next few months. I have to save up the money for it And thank you all for the compliments on her! I just love her to death (my husband says I love her more than I love him )

| Your pup is like 6 months old, right... She looks great, I'd let her eat as much as she wants and keep her active, a lot of exercise and walks, I don't think a dog that gets to eat a lot AND run/jump/walk a lot will get fat...
