| talk about frightening! I have had troubles with my foot and knee lately so I am not moving very fast, if at all, sometimes. I was taking Buckeye out and wasn't watching as I walked out the door. I usually look to see if anyone else is walking their dogs because Buckeye don't know how to keep his mouth shut to the dogs walking on his precious street. I get to the end of our front walk and look up to see a girl on a bike with a pit bull beside her (buckeye sees it at the same time). buckeye starts barking............the pit lunges for him. separated only by the width of the street. the girl is pulled down with her bike and lets go of the leash. oh wow...........comming for us is this big pit bull. I tried to grab buckeye up as quickly as I can ,which was painful with my ailments anyway. I get him and hold him clost to my chest and hobbling as fast as I can to my door. I am hollering at bob not to open the door for fear that my other 3 would rush out there. but hugging the door I holler at the lady to get her dog! she is limping too and finally gets her dog. THAT ENDED MY WALK

| O my goodness how frightening! I'm glad you and buckeye are ok I can't imagine how scared you were. We don't get to go for walks here we just play in the yard we live out in the sticks and the road infront of our house has alot of oilrig traffic and they seem to think becase we live outside of town there is no speed limit even though there is one posted.

| How scary for you!!! What a total idiot would ride a bike with a dog? And a pit bull at that. Hopefully, the bike rider got skinned up enough to teach herself a lesson or knock some common sense into her thick head. |

| there are lots of people around who ride their bikes and lead their dogs around successfully. she was one who should not tho. I blame my self as much as her for not being able to control my dog either. I guess any dog would come after him for all the barking and lunging he does too. it is just scary as all get out when you see this big dog headed your way with one thing in mind. I got to say he had to be fairly good dog to have not tore me apart because he sure could have. he was most definately close enough. He was actually touching my leg trying to get at buckeye.

| Something similar happened to my boss about 1 1/2 months ago. She has a male yorkie about 8 lbs, a female yorkie about 3.5 lbs, and a standard poodle. Anyways, she could hear some commotion in her front yard, so she went to check it out, but as soon as she opened the door, a very large pitbull charged into her house! It had her smaller yorkie in its mouth and was trying to shake her, she said that her pup was just a screaming! Her poodle and other yorkie proceeded to try to "attack" the pitbull in her house! She said her adrenalin got the best of her and with in seconds she had that pitbull by its jaws and was prying them open to get her pup out of its mouth, all the while yelling at the owner who by this time appeared on the front porch just watching! thankfully she was able to get her baby from the pitbulls mouth, and then still holding the pit by its jaws she drug it out of her entry way! The owner of the dog just stood there dumbfounded. After removing the pit from her house she ran in to check on her baby whom she was sure was in bad shape, but the yorkie was fine and growling at the door with the other yorkie and poodle! She called me and my co-worker, of course, all worked up! So now before I open my front door I have my babies in my arms or out in the back yard!

| Scarry!!!! I'm not sure which story scarred me the most Denise, I know just what you mean my lil Duncan is just like that, a big mouth! When he was about 4 or 5 months just 2# at that time he went after the postman that was 2 houses away and got himself pepper sprayed right in the face (the postman felt his life was in danger) I was sitting here reading your thread and lifting my feet, how scarry that dog could have tore up your legs. Don't ever go out with out something to protect yourself with incase of something like that ever happening again, you just never know. I'm lucky to have a yard that I can just let Buffy and Duncan out, but I have a friend who walks his australian terrier and he carries a good size stick....oh and his a cop. Rhiannon80: What a story my God! I hope I don't have nightmares tonight..lol .
