| Floppy Ears Hi. My new yorkie Logan has floppy ears. I don't really mind, it's kind of cute but I'm wondering if I should do something now to make them stand up. If I should what can I do? I think I've heard of people taping their ears but I don't know if it's for yorkies or not. Thanks!! Lisa & Logan

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | the yorkie standard are ears that stand up...but some people prefer the floppy ears. it is up to each individual and their preference.. so if you would like for them to stand up you may want to shave the top 2/3 of the ears front and back...and tape them up for about a week...then take them off and let them breath...also massaging the ears and get the blooding flowing will also help... but some yorkies their ears may never stand up due to their size and weight... hope that help!

| Autumns ears are not floppy, they stand straight up, when she is barking or mad the tips actually touch. I LOVE the floppy ears though. If she had come that way I would not of made them stand! |

| It's definitely a personal preference. I love the floppy ears on a puppy, but I like standing ears once they get older. I got lucky since Sukoshi's ears were already standing when I got her, so I didn't have to do any taping or anything, but I think there are several threads about that on YT. Just searching for taping, and I think you'll get some hits. Good luck with however you decide to do it. |

| Otis's ears flop, he is black, cotton coated with a white blaze on his chest. I've read that might indicate a thicker coat. I cut the hair on his ears recently and now when he looks up or is REALLY inquisitive they stand. But not usually. I was never going to show Otis so however he turned out was great with me. It's like wanting a child with curly hair and getting straight, or a certain color of eyes and getting another. He's my boy and I love him. I think he's handsome with flop ears.!!! Logan is gorgeous.

| Awww, what a cutie!!! I like the ears either way (both of mine are down), but if you want to tape, here's a post I found with lots of info: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...63&postcount=3

When Ginger was a pup her ears were UP then they were DOWN, then they were ONE UP and ONE DOWN. When they finally made up their mind, they stayed down. I think they're cute no matter what!

| Diggy, One up and one down just gives them more character. It ususally matches their personality, too!!! It'll be VERY cute.

| its truely about preference and taste. Coli has floppy ears and I just love him like that. I tried to stand them up since the vet told me. But later on I gave up and I love his floppy ears. He looks more puppish eventhough his two years old. |
