yorkie making real weird noises with his throat I was wondering if any of your yorkies, make a weird sound with his throat. Its like his scratching it, but more like he was choking on something and trying to get it out.try to imagine a cat with a hairball, its that kind of thing. He doesnt do it all the time, but sometimes he just over does it. Not to mention he makes me worry.

Im not an expert but everyone says its internal sneezing and perfectly normal. Mine does it all the time and to me it sounds like she is trying to get something out of her throat maybe choking. Im also interested in what everyone else will say

My dog has this also--called reverse sneezing. I took her to the vet to make sure it wasn't kennel cough as she had that during the winter but the vet told me it was nothing to worry about. Colleen

My vet described that it is just a sneeze that is deeper than a regular sneeze. But as far as i understand it should sound like its coming from her nose. To me it sounds like its in her throat. She has done it since i got her and shes 13 months. It doesnt seem like it bothers her too much... lasts for about 15 seconds and then shes back to running or w/e. Its hard to be sure because like you say...the vet doesnt get to see it. I dont know if i am descibing it accurately.

thats the same thing coli does. Its terrifying, when people hear him, they are like his choking. When I say his Okay, people look at me like I'm crazy or a very bad pet owner. And that just su....... And its true the noise his from the throat not the nose, sometimes I think its the trachea, since this breed tend to have this problem. anyway the cough is like when you have like bronchitis that your chest hurts from coughing, it that kind of loud cough.

YT 500 Club Member | Mine does something like that that my vet also said may be reverse sneezing. Lately I have noticed that she does have drainage from the nose when she does it. However, I always worry that it is collapsed trachea as she usually does it more when she is pulling on her leash. I try to walk her with a harness, but sometimes we have her on the collar when we are not going for an acutely walk. |
