| Old man pooping in the house?!? Okay. So I don't have an old MAN pooping in my house...but my 6 year old yorkie just started pooping in my house and he does it places that I don't go a lot...like in the basement or in a hidden corner! He has never done this before but the hard part of it is that he does it when we are home! It isn't like we aren't home or anything...we are just 5 feet away and he could ask us nicely! I don't know what to do but I'm getting frusterated...could something be wrong with him or is it just age or what? -Beau's mom |

| You would think after 6 years this wouldn't happen anymore. Hopefully someone here can help or has had this issue also.

| Guess what? My two do the same thing. Gracie is 6 and Avery is 2. I don't work outside of the home, so all they have to do is go to the door, but nooooooooo, they think our home is an OH BOY portable pot. |

| pooping only in the basement! My boys do the same thing. They will go down stairs to the basement and POOP.I have the stairs gated off,but sometimes the gate is forgotten.Maybe the scent is still on the carpet from when they were a puppy. Peanut is one year and a half and Thumper is a year old.I have notice that when one pee or poops the other one will go to the same spot and do the same.

| It sounds like you have lots of company. My Rudy just did this, this morning. I was in the downstairs bathroom getting ready for work and he was playing with his brother, Lucky, no bark to let me know he needs out. I go back into the living room and find a "deposit" from Rudy. He! He! I can tell the difference in their poops plus Rudy had a guilty look on his face. I think it's because even though I let them out for a while, Rudy is too busy being "spy" dog, etc, so he "forgets" he needs to go.

YT 500 Club Member | Mine does it after it rains or any time the grass is wet. She hates to get her feet wet. The worst is when the snow has melted, and the ground is wet. She waits til we are not in the room and will POOP. |

| I would go back to rewarding lavishly (with praise and really good treats) when he poops appropriately. Also, be sure you don't react too negatively when you see him poop or he will decide it isn't safe to poop around you.

Sorry,I had to laugh at this. My Joey does the same thing if I forget to put the fence on the stairs. He goes right down and poops next to my dirty laundry. Every Time! My laundry is in a basket and the floor is cement that I clean when he does this. what their thinking.... Joey is 2.4 years old.
