| Teeth Cleaning Does anyone have any tips on teeth cleaning? I tried to brush Bella's teeth the other day and she totally flipped out. Her breath is really bad right now and I don't want her teeth to rot. Please help. Thanks! Rachel & Bella http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?j=t&i=110944

| We use a rubber brush that fits on the end of a finger - Duncan flips if we use a proper tooth brush. We found starting in the bath a good place so he doesn't have any where to run |

| Julie1, that's really good advice. I also use a finger brush on Oscar. He's not a big fan of having his teeth brushed either, but I just try to encourage him. It gets a little easier all the time. Is Bella a puppy? When Oscar was teething, his breath smelled like something had died. One day when I was brushing his teeth, two fell out! After he lost those the breath problem went away. Keep trying!!! |

| Thanks everyone for your replies! Yes, Bella is a puppy. She's 8 months right now and feisty! I'll go get the rubber toothbrush thingy you are talking about. I've seen it before. Thanks again!

| Just a suggesstion, but all my dogs get a pig's ear twice a week. Other days they get greenies. My Australian Cattle Dogs went to the vet last week for their annual check up and the vet was amazed how clean their teeth were. He asked what I was doing and I told him. He said for sure it does work.

| I use a finger toothbrush..I have a long dog one..but he like to play fetch with it and I also use tooth wipes 1x a day on top of his brushing because IU feel like it's more of him playing with the brush then allowing me to really clean..lol, you can get the dental wipes at Petsmart also |

| I use Maxi Guard that I got from my vet... its great bc it fights plaque whether you brush or not bc its a gel and you put it on the sides of their mouth. Its uses an oxy-cleaning mechanism of action. I still brush with it though... I tried the finger brush and it was a little too big for their mouths, so I wrap my finger in gauze and put the gel on it and brush. If you are interested the website is: www.addisonlabs.com It is also chlorhexidine free. Its an all natural formula.
