I have had to board mine & will in the future but I surely don't like it. The boarding place is very good & I trust them but I just feel so bad about leaving.

My husband and I go on vacations about 4-5 times a year and have only boarded ours once, which was when he was about 6 months old. I highly doubt that I would board him ever again. He has been traveling with us everywhere we go now and never had a problem. I know it's a hassle but at least I don't have to worry and keep calling and checking up on him.

I am getting ready in July to board Ziggy and Zoey at a Pet resort that is run by their vets. I never considered boarding Ziggy by herself. My husband is not crazy about the idea, but I think it is less worrysome for me. I worry more about people being in and out our house and what if someone broke in. My inlaws always just came and let Ziggy out three times a day. But they are getting older. they are going to be in a medium master sweet that evem has a tv/ $19. a day. I think that is reasonable.

| If at all possible do you know anyone that you trust that can come and stay at your house while you are gone, then they wouldn't have a change in schedules? I had a brother that once offered to stay and take care of my babies, but then when it got closer it fell through. But I went on vacation for a week around thanksgiving last year, and we took my babies to the doggie hotel. They liked it. They had a room, not a crate, and they were put in there with eachother. They got certain times for playtime, and they had room to move. And the people who run the place are great. They only charged 14.00 per day for the both of them. She also comes to your house to let your dogs out,but she only comes 3 times and having smaller dogs, going outside only 3 times per day isn't enough. Either way noone likes to have their dogs not with em while on vacation. But they will be ok as long as you trust the caregiver.

I have only left my eldest alone for two nights- i left her once with mom when I was moving back home and once at the shelter when I had taken her back when she was old enough to get spayed. Other than that I try to plan the vacation around her.. spoiled rotten little dog. However one time I did take her to the beach for spring break and had a foster dog at the time and knew there was no way I could handle two dogs on the trip, plus the foster wasn't completely potty trained yet. So I had a pet sitter come in a few times a day- she was highly recommended and I loved her and so did Marley. Back when I was in high school we boarded my Bichon at the groomers for a couple days to go to my college's orientation and then to the beach for a few days. We had boarded her there several times before without a problem. We ended up coming back a day early from the beach so went ahead and picked her up. She had some kind of green junk coming out of her eyes and when we got home she peed for several minutes. I don't think she had been let of her cage the entire time she was there from the way she looked and acted. It was slam packed that wknd b/c it was the fourth of july wknd and I think they just did not bother messing with her since she was a quiet dog and never made much of a ruckus if not let out. From that point on we have never boarded the dogs anywhere. I'm sure there will come a time when we have to but whenever I do I will be sure to throughly check the place out.
