| Help! I don't know what to do. Ok - I wrote about a week and a half ago because Tucker had a huge bump on his head. We assumed that he had just bumped his head and that it would go away. It seemed to pretty much go down, but it never really went away. Well, about 2 days ago we noticed that it seemed to be getting soft. Now this morning it started to bleed!! It bled quite a bit, but the bump was getting smaller (like it was draining). Now it seems swollen again and it keeps bleeding off and on. It's not gushing blood, but it has been bleeding a little bit all day. It's Sunday and I know I will be paying outrageous prices to take him to the emergency vet, but I will if I have to. He doesn't seem to be in any pain (except for when we touch the bump). Does anyone have any advice?? Thanks

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh wow...If I were in your position...I would just go - or call and speak to someone and tell them what's happening....the ER vets may work something out with you .....or they could say you could wait till tommorrow ? I would def talk to someone though and see what they say....GOOD LUCK !! I thought of a bite of some sort.. but honestly - I've not seen that happen or heard of it...Maybe some of the pro's here can help ...I hope he's ok !!! |

| Oh yeah - he's eating like a pig. He's acting completely normal otherwise. i'll keep an eye on it. i'll be home all day with him tomorrow, so if it doesn't get any better I will bring him to our regular vet tomorrow.

| I sure hope Tucker feels better soon and tomorrow your vet can give you a diagnosis and treat him to make him a 100% again. Well wishes to him!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | My husband has had dogs his whole life and I told him about Tucker and asked him what he would do ....he said the same thing Schatzie said ...and added that I'm an alarmist and would go to the vet for a mosquito bite....I told him it would have to be a pretty BIG mosquito bite but yes I probably would...so don't mind me - I would call just to inquire if they have an idea what it could be though... I really hope your Tucker will be be ok ... if he's eating and drinking ...that's a great sign of feeling good ...and whatever it is ...maybe it's just draining ?...Please let us know OK ? |

| I am always alarmed about these things-initially. Then, I think like the old nurse tha I am. As nurse-mom I would put warm compresses on the bump for 20 mins every 2-4 hours and make sure the drainage-bleeding is not pus. The better idea might be to use dry clean white cloths to dab the drainage and keep it dry. I would keep him quiet (yeah, right!) and monitor him for food and water and call the vet ASAP if any changes at all!! Have you checked his temp? Should be no more than 102 degrees unless you already have a base-line temp on him that is much different than that. If he has any changes at all take him to the ER and try to arrange payment. Our er vet charges so much up front-I have it put on my credit card. Let us know how he is doing, okay? |

| Bump on the head What I would do is monitor closely for fever and if there is not any, use the warm compresses until morning and be at the vets when they open. No, actually what I would do is panic go to the ER and get billed an outrageous amount of money. But since it has been over a week, if there's no sign of infection it does seem like it is a bite of some kind that is doing what it should be doing, getting out of the poor baby. So, the compress should continue that process and it might be ok by morning. |

| Bleeding bump Definitely visit the vet as soon as you can. I am not sure what it could be but with it bleeding off and on, the possibility of infection is there. If the dog does not have a fever now and is eating and drinking normally, sounds like you could wait until Monday. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | from one tucker mom to another i really hope he's ok. if he's acting normal other than the bump i wouldn't worry about it very much. just keep a close eye on it and bring him to the vet if its not better tomorrow! good luck! |

| My thoughts are with you and Tucker. It's really scary when one of our babies is sick or hurt. Take care and give Tucker a hug. Keep us posted! |
