Layla's Coat.. question I was at the Yorkie Fair this weekend and everyone thought that Layla was still a puppy because her coat is still black and tan. She has a bit of silver/grey coming in around her legs and her "hips.. if you will" is there still time for a silver coat to come in or is her coat done changing? i don't really care either way... i think it is great that she looks like a puppy when she is 14 months just wondering tho

| I kept waiting for Otis to turn silver, but he never did. At the time I didn't even know that some yorkies could stay black. But I think he's beautiful. He's cotton coated and stays in "my version" of a puppy cut. (He doesn't tolerate primping very well.) Check out the avatar. He's 3yrs old.

I'm not an expert but I thought any yorkie that isn't truly black and tan isn't considered "show quality", not that most of us care. It's also been stated that one of the interesting things about yorkies is they constantly change color. So, who knows. I have a cottony coat blond and one that is darker but neither one is pure black and tan.

Azrael is 28 months old and her body was totally black till just about 6 months ago and now has a lot of silver. The rest of her is still the same color though. The breeder said she has seen the really dark ones end up really light at any age. Funny how they can change colors. Zada who is really silver gray and blond, had both knees operated on last June, and when her hair started growing back on her knees, it was a rust color for a long time. And also the hair in one area on her back was also a yellowish. It's just now growing out the normal color it was before her operation.

My Mom ( Jackie ) and I thought Layla was adorable!! She does look like a puppy and I thought that made her so unique! We kept talking about her because she was sooo adorable! I can't believe she's 5lbs! Wrigley is just a tad over 4, but Wrigley is longer!

Do you have any pictures of your dogs as puppies? I was told that Lily was going to be black and tan. She is 4 months old in a couple of days and still dark except for some really light (almost white or super light tan) hairs coming in on the top of her head. Everyone who sees her tells me they can't believe how dark she is. She only got these really light hairs 2 weeks ago and the rest of her body is still really black

Ben is 16 months and still black and tan, i kept waiting but it just never happened. Someone said it could be because he's soft coated and usually they stay black and tan? I love his black coat, its very striking. Indy was blonde and silver-ish by the time she was about 10-11 months (she's silky coated) and Malachi (in my avatar) is almost 6 months and has just started to get silver roots and blonde is coming through on his head ( i *think* he is going to be silky, but can't be sure).
