| When Maggie Moo gets excited she coughs and chokes... Mags gets so excited when somebody pays attention to her (not the family, I'm talking about strangers or friends, people she isn't used to being around). She starts wiggling furiously when they hold her, she's so excited to see them, and then she often chokes and coughs. She just has a little coughing fit and can't get her breath and chokes. So then I take her in my arms, stroke her throat, calm her down, then she's fine when they hold her again. Do your Yorkies ever do this? She's a year old, weights 3.5 lbs., isn't a hyper little dog, has no breathing problems, has never been in a collar, so I'm not suspecting collapsing trachea. She just goes bonkers when new people are around, and omg, if they talk baby talk to her it's ten times worse! |

| I know what you mean, Buddy did that for the first time when I got home yesterday He gets so excited when I open the door he went into this coughing, gagging fit! I got so nervous. He never did that before. I read that it is called reverse sneezing. I think that may be it. Scared the daylights out of me. He couldn't seem to catch his breath. |

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | Duke does that when he's excited but I thought it was because he had kennel cough when he was young.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Could be reverse sneezing, it sounds like it may be. There is a discussion going on about it in this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78517
