Potty Training Nightmare!!! Hi! I have some issues with my babies... Tia Maria is 14 months and Johnny is 6 months and they are so bad with the potty training! They can be outside on the deck for hours and come inside to do their business. We are using pee pee pads in the kitchen and gating them there when we are gone for the day, but when we are home it's like a free for all. Should I keep them in the kitchen until they get the hang of ALWAYS going on the pads? I hate the idea of doing that because I like to be with them in the house when I am home. No matter how many times I tell them no and put them outside when they are bad they continue to do it in the house! I need some sort of obedience school myself, I think! Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

dont give up whatever you do. Oliver didnt start getting the hang of having to go outside to go potty till he was at least 11 months. But what we did was they were confined to a specific area on the hardwood floor and we put puppy pads all over the place for him. My mom read somewhere that yorkies are the hardest dogs to train when it comes to potty training. Oliver def. takes his good old time outside when he does need to go to the bathroom dont rush your babies if you do they will come inside and do their buisness. Also I would make up a command for them like "go potty" or "go poopies" and then treats treats treats when they do and tons of praise. good luck!!!

I had a dog trainer tell me once that leaving them outside for long periods of time, although they enjoy it can hinder potty training. He said they need to know they are going outside specifically to go potty, as soon as they go praise them and let them back in. If they are out for long periods of time it is more like a play time to them than a potty break. Once they are trained and they know that going outside is for potty breaks you can leave them out. I don't know if this will help or not but its worth a try!!
