| What am I doing wrong????? Alexis is 9 mos. old now. She just recently (last month or so) started pooping in her crate at night. I've even been getting up to let her out in the middle of the night but she's still doing it. For example last night: She went out at 11:30 pm I watched her do her business then I crated her and went to bed. At 4am I took her out again. She went. At 6:30 am I got up got the kids up and went to take her out and she had pooped in her crate. I have not been letting her eat after 4pm so what is going on with her???? The kids have been wearing her out in the evenings by running around the house and she chases them.

Is it regular poop or runny? Is the crate too large? | |

| What do you feed her? If the food has a lot of fiber or fillers she'll have to go more. I don't think 'not letting her eat after 4' is a good idea...that's a long time to go without food. |

| Her poop is regular poop. I've never had a problem with not feeding after 4pm. My vet said it was fine. She actually eats 3 meals a day plus free feed the dry kibble. I pick up the dry at 4pm. She is eating a crappy food right now. I'm feeding her some off the wall brand of food but it doesn't have any rice or wheat in it. (Due to the recall) This is the only food that I can get around here that doesn't have the recalled ingredients. I am going to the city in a couple of days to get the Royal Canin that they were all doing great on. I hope that helps her. The size of the box is x-small. It is the smallest crate that I could fine. It measures:13" long by 9" wide. She's 3 lbs.

| If you're feeding her a 'crappy food' then I would guess that's the problem. Royal Canin is not a high quality food. What was she on before and did she have the same problem? At 9 months old she should be holding it all night long but (and I'm sorry to go against what your vet says buuut...) especially at 3 pounds keeping food from her from 4:00 until the next morning is not a good idea no matter how much she eats throughout the day. Do you have a Petco near you? They sell a brand called Natural Balance, it's an excellent food and not too pricey. Some of their foods were in the recall but not all of them. You can compare doog food brands here: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ The better foods have the higher star rating but the 6 star foods are too high in protein for Yorkies. We feed Nature's Variety raw, you can check it out here: www.naturesvariety.com Also, have you thought about home cooking? |

| She was on Royal Canin before with no problems. I do not have a petco or petsmart near me. It is a 2 hr drive 1way to go into the city. I've always picked food up at 4pm. and have never had a problem. I've been doing it ever since I can remember with no problems.
