| Too overprotective? I went to a park over the weekend with my daughter and hubby, and we were walking Jake but any time another dog was around, I picked him up and carried him. One reason I did that is because Jake is so small that I worry if another dog might hurt him, even unintentionally. The main reason is because I have no idea if other people's dogs are up to date on shots, etc. I also don't like strangers to touch him, although I did let a little girl pet him because she was amazed at how small he was and that he had a shirt on lol. Hubby thinks I'm a little too overprotective because he says Jake needs the socialization. I agree that he does, but I worry anyway. Am I being overprotective? Jake does get some socialization with my daughter's dogs. She has two labs who are so gentle and very sweet. They are very protective of my grandchildren, and the male is very protective of Jake also. It's cute because he just follows Jake around in the yard, and if the other dog comes over, he growls at her to back off lol. Jake loves playing with them, and we supervise them closely. |

| Not too over-protective. I've always been the same way and I like to think that is one reason mine have lived to be ripe old ages. You're just a good mommie.

| i definitly understand where you are coming from, but i worry that you are teaching Jake to be afraid of other dogs... what i do is ask the other person if their dog is friendly and i let Layla and the dog sniff eachother out.. i praise her that she is doing a great job and then we walk off.. i'd never let them play because most dogs are a lot bigger than Layla, but i want her to know it is ok to sniff out another dog. Strangers on the other hand.. i don't let them hold her. but they can pet her if they want... |

| Oh do not worry sometimes I even avoid the parks with children because they are all over my babies and that bothers me. Also the other day I took them to the dog park and i could not let them lose or i did not wanted to play with other dogs because... first of all the smallest one was a labrador and i get so scared with them. I do not like people to feed them or carry them LOL I think i am too much? hmmm what u think |

| You definitely want to socialize your furbaby but maybe you should stick to doing it w/people and animals that you know. My husband is always teasing me that if Autumn lost the use of her legs it would not be a big deal because I am always carrying her and not letting people see her. |

| I'm the same way with my Phoebe, my hubby sometimes get embarrass I can tell by the look of his eyes, because I always pick her up if I see a larger dog coming towards us, I don't care if the owner is there or not, but I do get bad looks from the owners though, I just don't take any chances with her, she is so friendly and she loves big dogspoor me!! |

Yorkie Yakker | You are doing the best thing for your little baby. Just read the thread "something bad happened to my little girl today." It's my baby that was hurt. You can never be tooooooooo careful, I have had to learn this the hard way and poor Sadie now. Keep doing what you are and keep 'em safe. Amy & Sadie
