| Funny behaviour.... My little Jeanie is so funny. She will follow me everywhere, so I know she wants to be near me. But whenever I try to pick her up, she runs......and it's so frustrating. If I call her, she just looks at me.......and if I go towards her, she runs.........????/ Also she doesn't like to cuddle a whole lot, would rather be running after "bunny" or "ball" or the other dozen play toys she has.......when mommy wants to cuddle....she just squirms. I get sad that she doesn't want to be with me a whole lot other than to follow me around. Are they like this when they are younger? Or is it just my little girl? Will she grow out of it?? |

| awwwww I'm sure that has to be frustrating because you just want to cuddle them and snuggle them! Jake has always been very cuddly and LOVES to be held and snuggled. But, I've talked to others whose pups aren't as cuddly.....some want to cuddle only on their terms, when they say it's right lol. I'm sorry I don't have any advice, other than just keep trying. Good luck to you! |

| yes, Jeanie is just like that! I can't get her to lie with me ever. She has laid down with Daddy a few times, not sure how that happens....I give her all the lovin, and she goes and lays with him... But I'm just glad to see her lay with either one of us. I blamed the fact that she doesn't sleep with us or in our room. She sleeps in the kitchen (running free) in her kennel. I know it would be different if she was with us. But DH says no way! I hope when she grows up she grows out of this! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I got Pixie at 13 months and I have had her 3 months and I still cannot pick her up. If I go to pick her up, she runs to her bed on my bed and then I can pick her up. She does come when I call but I cannot pick her up anywhere but the bed. I trained Cali to turn around when I say Mommy pick you up and I can pick her right up but I had her from 9 weeks. I would just keep trying to pick her up for good things like kisses and treats and she should get use to it.

| Rhapsody was like this; and although she still likes to be chased, lol, she does stop and let you pick her up now. Also since she turned a year she's become a lot more cuddly. Right now she is curled up against me in the chair. She used to just lay at the bottom of my chair, and be ready to play. . . play. . . play. She's calmed down a lot, and wants to be loved on now. My little boy, Tiger, he's always been the cuddly bear. He wants to be carried around like a baby all the time, lol. I've heard other people say that the boys can be more affectionate. I don't know if this is true, but it's been true with my little ones. Good luck!

| My new puppy did exactly the same thing. He was worse, he would shake if anyone looked directly at him. If I walked towards him he ran under the bed. If I tried to hold him he would squirm until I put him down, I thought he would throw him out of my arms and break a leg. It upset me so much that I called a Dog Behavorist to come to my house and show what I can do to make Ricky trust me. And, believe me, one session and she gave me some tips on how to deal with him that really helped. Little by little he is getting so much better. Last week we reached another milestone, he actually came up to me and looked me in the eye and started barking so that I would pick him up and put him on the sofa with me. I was shocked !!

| My grandbaby Lola will let me pick her up most of the time, but if I'm on the bed she'll bark or whine for me to get her up there and I'll bend over to get her and she'll back away. I just don't understand it. I'll say "I thought you wanted up here, but I guess not" and I'll leave her alone and then she'll whine again. She will try to "run" up the quilt and then I'll help her get up there. Who knows what these babies think. lol I'm thinking of just getting her some stairs, that way she can get up when she wants. |

| Emmy is the same She wants me to cuddle and hold her on her terms only. She thinks if I come towards her, I want to play chase. She starts running her "obstacle course."

| sawyer was the same way. I hated it when he backed away when I reached for him; then my trainer said when we lean over them to pick them up it is like having a 7 story building suddenly lean towards you, you would probably back up too. Sawyer is much better now, i think it is a trust issue that just takes time; and just like some people are more happy cuddling, some yorkies are too

| LOL Jake has an "obstacle course" too. If he gets a hold of a sock when I'm folding laundry, he runs with it. He runs around the recliner, under the end table and peeks around to see if I'm coming. Then he darts out and jumps on the loveseat, off the loveseat, under the coffee table to the couch, jumps on the couch, jumps off there and heads back over to the recliner because he can go round and round that. One time I got on the recliner and looked over the back of it to see where he was, and I felt something bump my leg....he had come up behind me. SUCH a brat! |

| My boy used to be a little scared and run away too. But he is much better now, I think he trusts me. I think it has a lot to do with their history and what breeder you get them from. My breeder had a son that mishandled the puppies, he treated him like toys, picking them up by one leg, etc. But Cash trusts me now, after two months, so I am very happy!! |
