Donating YT 14K Club Member | I want your opinion on this... How to you feel about people that sell dogs on the side of the road or like in front of Walmart? What do you really think about them? My opinion is...I really don't see much wrong with it as long as it isn't during the heat of the day...like early morning is okay with me. The reason why is: 1) There are many crazy people out there. I personally don't want people to know where I live. 2) I've heard of stories of breeders having people come to their house. The potential puppy buyers don't want the puppies at the time but will come back and steal the pups out of your yard. 3) I've heard that some have come back to the people's house "wanting to see the pups again" and then pulling out a gun and taking the pups. I know that these are isolated incidences but with all of the crazies out there and with the prices yorkies are going for, why take that chance? |

| Plus, you have no idea the kind of home your puppy is going to. You've just met this person. I think the people who do this are the ones who have had accidents and are trying to get rid of the pups. |

| Your right! There are crazy people out there. I dont know what I would do. I hate to see they little puppys out in the heat on the side of the road though for sale. But if you remember about the Bobbie Jo Stinnett that was like 8 months pregnant who breed and sold rat terrier. Well the lady who was pretending that she was wanting a dog came and killed Bobbie Jo Stinnett and cut her unborn baby out of her stomach and pasted it off as her own.. I cant believe what this world has come too... its a shame. I cried my eyes out when i heard this on the news it was a wake up call. (can you really trust a stranger when it comes to your family. i sorry i didnt want to post that but its a same like you said. do you really want a stranger to know were you live...??????

| I don't agree with it at all. I think that the buys should be screening the breeder and the breeder should be screening the buyers. As a breeder I would think that you would run the risk of sending your baby home with someone that sees a cute puppy and its an impulse buy rather than an adoption for a forever home. JMO....

Donating YT 14K Club Member | What everyone has said makes a lot of sense. I don't know about you and your home, but I live in a pretty nice neighborhood. I have a lot of valuables that I collect. I completely understanding with people that are buyers needing to know what type of environment the pups grew up in. In our neighborhood on trash days, people come over from all sides of town just to dig through your trash. They figure since it's a nice neighborhood they might find some good junk. I dunno. My husband works shift work and it wouldn't take someone very long to figure out our routine. Yes, we have guns in our home and I know how to use them and aren't afraid to do so. They're so many maybes that just go running through my head. |

| Wow, this one is hard to answer. First I will like to see where the pups were raise and it what environment ,and see the pups parents if available. Buying a pup from a car's truck screams to me puppymill or someone that donot care for the pups. In the other hand is scary having strange people coming to your home. I think that breeders and possible buyers need to be screen. I guess is a risk Like LvMyYorki said. |

| Opinion Personally, I would not buy without going to the home of the breeder and seeing for myself how well the pups are cared for and how clean the environment. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I see people selling puppies on the side of the road all the time where I live. When I see them, I wonder how healthy are they, and are they going home with a real dog lover, or someone that only wants to harm them ? ....sellers on the side of the road to me really don't care - they want that 50 or 100 bucks....at least that's how it LOOKS to me...I could be wrong On the Breeder's side and being scared of people coming to your home - I would think screening all your calls VERY Carefully - Getting call back numbers and maybe their vets number ...so you can really trust who's actually in your home..but that still isn't going to cover a breeder if someone comes back later - it IS a scary world for sure - what a shame.... Meeting a potential buyer in a close by place could work - you can show them the puppy and they don't know where you live...Tough choices...and I know this isn't much help... |

| Hey, the Amish up in PA sell them at flea markets, roadside stands and probably out of the back of their buggies. And, lest we forget the auctions..I am leaning toward thinking that, well, if I said what I really thought I wuld be off of here...I have very strong feelings about this. |

| One way to potentially solve the problem is to meet the people in a neutral place the first time to get a feel for them before you invite them to your home. Since choosing a home for your babies can be a process, that gives you a chance to meet multiple times and in multiple different scenarios to get to know them. If they give you the creeps in say the parking lot of the mall, you wouldn't want them in your home or with your babies. If you get a good feel for them, then invite them over to see your home. And explain to them what you are doing so that they know it's just a precautionary measure. That is what my breeder did with us...

| If you are talking about buying from someone - according to a news report here in Houston, a great number of the people selling dogs on the side of the road, parking lots, etc., are animals that have been brought over from puppy mills in Mexico. They suggested to be very careful because so many of these animals are sick and many of them have died. Ever since I saw that report, I wonder when I see people selling on the side of the road. |

| imo i understand both sides...why? because i was robbed last year when i was stationed in fort lewis,wa yes it was an enclosed post with 24 hr security! the people who robbed me figured out my routine of going to my mom's every weekend they even knew that my hubby was in the field at the time cia says that they think they were watching me for quite some time wich freaked me out . they stole 10,000 dollars worth of stuff it was very scary for me and my girls luckily they flew my husband back in from the field right away and we were able to get our money back from our insurance company. but i must say after that experience i am very picky as to whom i let in my house i won't even let a cable man or housing maintenence in without showing me some id. but even with id i worry because they come in and see what we have and i know it's tempting. but on the other hand i would like to see where my puppy has been if their home is clean and pet oriented. so it's a tuff question for me to answer
