| From the very beginning when Riley would bite, I'd cry out "Ow, no biting", & pull back my hand. It didn't take long for her to realize that she shouldn't bite. Now, when we're playing & she forgets & she take's a nip, I look at her & she quickly licks my hand (as if to say "I'm sorry!") Good Luck! |

| Sawyer used to bite too hard sometimes too. I would say NO BITE in a firm voice. he would bark like he was going to eat me, but he would only lick my hand. They get so excited sometimes they get carried away, but they will stop if you let them know it is unexceptible. You are very lucky to have such a good fur baby, hang in there, he will stop as he matures.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i agree, telling them "no bite" in a loud firm tone does get their attention. To add to this, i would say "no bite" and then get up and walk away from playing with the pup and completely ignore him. Then after a few minutes get back down on the floor and start playing again. if he bites again do the same thing. say no bite and then get up or turn away so he can't play with you. Do this each time. He will learn that if he bites then he doesn't get to play with mommy or daddy anymore. OR after saying no bite, replace your hand with a toy for him to bite. You can redirect his biting to something more appropriate to play with. good luck!!

| Princess does this all the time. I just yell no and act like I am hurt. She hates the fact that she might of hurt me and she licks where she was biting. They are mostly play biting though!!! Hope that helps! |

| we tried lots of things and some of it works sometimes, but the most effective thing when he really gets too growly and nips at us when we are playing is a little squirt of water in the face with a spray bottle. he HATES it so it stops him immediately. and it doesn't hurt him at all... i was a skeptic till we finally tried it. now i just have to set the spray bottle in the room and he will start behaving better!! hehe

| Thanks Ah biting..I'm having trouble with my Chibi too! I love him so much, but he is too "bitey" sometimes! The suggestions sound great! I'll give them a try! Yes and good luck with your little one too! Yorkie talkers have excellent advice!!!!

YT 500 Club Member | We took puppy kindergarten, and the instructor said that the mother dog would teach the puppy not to nip or bite by "taking it down". That sounds bad, but what you really do is take the puppy by the face and hold it down for a few seconds and say "No". It shows the dog who the master is. I did it gently but firmly a few times when Sophie was a puppy, and we never had a problem from then on. When you do it, remember that all you are doing is putting the dog on it's side and holding it down gently. I am sure that the mother dog never did it as gently as I did, but it certainly worked immediately and stopped it for good. |

| Sky is doing the same thing. Nothing is working with her. I tried the spray in the face but she opened her mouth to drink the water. I am going to try the holding her down technique. Hopefully that might cure her. Good luck! |
