| Puppy coat: when do they lose it and how to tell the texture? Just curious when a puppy will lose his fuzzy puppy coat. Brooklyn is about 4 months and hers hasn't changed much since I got her! She's still young so I'm sure that's normal? Also, when will you be able to determine if your pup has a soft or silky coat and how? Thanks guys!

| Ive heard it can take up to a year to two years. However my yorkie Pete is 2.5yrs and he just has a soft coat (not silky) so he never really lost it. Its a bit harder to care for without getting tons of mats, but over the years Ive found the best brush is a metal one that kind of looks like a comb but with round ends, not to be confused with a sharp mat breaker. The metal comb is able to get to the very bottom of the coat so with a few minutes brushing each day he stays mat free. Good Luck

| aww thank you SO much! that's what I'm worried about.. my puppy started getting matts and I don't know how to get rid of or prevent them! I brush her daily and she gets a bath once a week... it's so hard. I think she might eventually have a silky coat because the hair on the top of her head is very silky and a light light blondish/silver color.

| It takes them a while to grow in their adult hair about a year or so. As they get older they will continue to change !! |

| Oh I remember those days!! Pete would get a bath once a week, brushed every day and still would get so matted. It got to the point I was embarrassed to bring him to the groomer, I was worried they would think I was being neglectful But Im telling you a metal comb type brush works wonders for Pete's coat. . . not a single matt and its been about a month since he was at the groomer. In our house thats considered a miracle http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...N=2026118&Ne=2 heres a picture of the type of comb we're using, I'm telling you if you haven't tried it its worth a shot. Cant wait to see the pictures

| ok FINALLY I have time to post the pics lol. I noticed her eyes look kinda greenish in some of the pics, isn't that supposed to tell you somethin? I swear YT teaches you EVERYTHING LOL. BTW.. I ordered that brush, so thank you thank you! Anyway the pics are mainly of how her hair turns soooo blonde on the top of her head, and the last 2 are just cuz she's cute haha. But don't mind the fact that she needs a bath!!!

My Friday has the same blonde coloring on her face and head as your Brooklyn does! She's 5 months old and I am anxiously awaiting to see what color she grows up to be ....

| Your baby's hair sounds alot like how my little Jake's has always been. His was just like Brooklyn's at that age. He's now 9 mos. old and his hair is much silkier now. His puppy hair is almost totally grown out now. He has gotten so much easier to groom these last couple months because that puppy hair really can mat easily! Now his hair never mats at all and is always silky, shiny and soft! I'm sure Brooklyn's will keep changing too. She is adorable!! |
