| how can you tell the type of coat they will have? If you see the parents and they are both silky but then the puppy turnes out to be a cotten coat How can you tell before you buy the puppy what type of coat he will have. The first one I had turned out to have a wire coat and this one has a cotten coat. I want a true silky yorkie. Can anyone help?

| I guess the best advice I could give would just be to go to a reputable breeder. I would even recommend a show breeder and hopefully one that you could find others on YT who have purchased from them & been happy with their purchase. Good luck. |

| When is it possible to be able to tell by just looking at the pup? Is it possible to tell coat type when they are less than 6 weeks old? |

| I have been told that when you take a true silky yorkies picture you will see the eyes reflecting green. I don't know if this is true but all you have to do is look at pictures and see this. |

I don't know if it's any help but both of my boys have silk coats and when they were 4 months old they had thin, short hair that stuck up everywhere! I thought it would never grown but when it did it came in beautifully! | |

| I don't think I would be able to tell for sure either. But, it has been my experience that the puppies that have coats that look fine and oily all the timee will be silky coats and the big, soft fluffy ones will be cotton. But that's just my expereincee. And, it is possible to have a cotton coat in the litter when both parents are silky and all the rest of the litter looks silky. i've had that happen with my last two litters. |

| I still dont really know! He was bought from a show breeder, He had the green eyes and both parents had sliky coats. However he did have a thick fluffy coat when he was bought at eight weeks. So do you think next time look for the one that has the oilest coat?

| You can tell by the hair on their legs and feet.....should be sparse. Soft Coats usually have bedroom slippers.....But long about 12 - 14 weeks of age you can start to get an idea.....if you part the coat on the body, look down towards the roots...if you see shine coming through (reflecting light), pretty sure you've got silk. Also look at behind the ears, at the base, if you see gold there another good sign.

this isn't true. Mika's eyes glow green, but her coat is definetly not silky.
