| Puppy travel questions In a few weeks I am going to be picking up a new pup. I am driving 10 hiurs to get him and would like to know what all I need to put in his crate with him for the drive home? Do I put food and water in the crate for the drive or only give it to him when we stop? Also how often do we need to stop and let him out? Any advice would be good. I do have a Yorkie girl now but the longest she has riden is 20 minutes so I really have no idea about this long of a drive. Thanks in advance. Krystal |

| Luckily I didnt have to drive that far to get my mojo. But for sure you'll need some food, a bottle of water, toys, a leash (for potty breaks), a harness, and a blanket for inside the crate. That's all i can think of right off hand. But it really depends on how old the puppy is on how often you'll have to stop. If its older its about every hour to an hour and a half (to be safe) for younger ones its more often. Well I hoped this helped some and good luck!!

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | pee-pee pads if that is how the pup was trained. Nutri-cal. Wet Ones in case puppy gets car sick in the crate. bowls for water & food (seems obvious but have forgotten them) I stop every 90 minutes to stretch my legs and let the puppy out of the crate. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ^^^ the above plus, towels for wiping spills, chewy toy, a little stuffed animal for comfort, Nutrical FOR SURE. I drove my recent baby home in his new bed - so I could see him, carry him, comfort him, keep a close eye on him. My hubby drove.

| I brought Gracie home at 8 weeks, it was about a 2 hour drive. She had not been potty trained to anything. I lined her carrier/crate with Pee Pads, and had a towel in there as well as a couple of toys. I stopped periodically to offer her food and water. To be honest, she was so upset and scared, at being taken away from her pack, that she just did not want to eat or do anything but hide in the corner of her carrier. She really did not eat much of anything for about 3 days after I first brought her home. Time, quiet, patience and lots of lovies are needed!

| It will be good to have some papertowels and baby wipes and maybe some towls and little plastic grocerie bags to throw away the mess. My Piper gets car sick after about 4 hours and your going to want to clean it up if it happens
