| I really thought I was going to lose Sam! I think my heart is still in my stomach.....in fact I feel like I need to throw up. Neighbordog, Rosie is a huge ole bassett hound that comes over every day to get a treat. She even goes out in the back yard and plays with the boys. This morning she cam over to get her treat and Sam scooted out the door before I could get him. Trying to not panic to get him back, I was saying in my crazy fun "come here sammy sam" voice but he just kept trottin after Rosie. Still trying not to panic, I walked calmly after him, calling him the entire time. On the porch of the empty house next door they stopped. Rosie just sniffed him and I was getting closer but before I could get to them -- Rosie had Sam flipped on his back and she was growling and biting at him! Sam was just a cryin. I was yelling at her and pulled her off of him. Sam just was a crying. I checked him over and he is just fine, just scared. Then if that wasnt enough when my Charlie heard Sam crying he came a running and jumped on Rosie as I was pulling her off of Sam! They usually all play together, I dont know what happened. It all happened in minutes and I really thought she had hurt him but no he is fine...of course he is not going to get out my sight the rest of the day and he is going to be lucky if his lil feet hit the floor. I had to share. I knew my fellow YT'ers would understand.

| I understand... It takes just a second for a dog to 'turn around' like that. I had a scare myself yesterday as well, I was walking Pepper and saw that big dog in front of us, the lady was holding the leash close and was trying to restrain it but he broke loose and lounged at my baby I somehow flipped the leash upwards and up Pepper went landing in my arms. And the dog was still trying to bite!! I'd rather he bit me than Pep, I'd survive it - you know what I mean? I was soooooo shaken Oh my God. I know totally how scary that is I'm glad your doggie is ok, I'm sure she'll be scared of that dog from now on....

| If this was a pitt bull forum, ya people would have the right to make fun of us for being so protective. But these guys are just soo tiny and so easily hurt and SOO hard to treat. Soo much damage can happen, in just a matter of seconds

| That is SOOO scary!! I don't trust any larger dog around Betty in the house without me being right there. I don't let ANY near her outside. I'm too anxious...one little 'mistake' and it could be all over. Some things can't be fixed with an "I'm sorry" or "I'll be more careful next time".

| Yikes! I'm so glad your little one is unharmed! Yes, things can turn in a second. I was so determined to socialize Ginger when we got her. Well, after bad experiences at the dog park, training, etc., with people not having control of their own dogs, she socializes ONLY with small dogs who I know. (and the neighbors gentle giant...they were puppies together, and really, they both think Ginger's the big dog). When we're out walking and see someone coming along with a big dog, I either turn the other way, make mine "sit" and stand between them and the dog til it passes, or cross to the other side of the street (if we're walking the neighborhood and not on a path). I'm sure people think I'm nuts, but it only takes a second for a big dog to do serious damage. Give your little guy an extra hug today!!!

| I'm so glad you and Sam are ok. It always amazes me at how quickly a situation can occur. Thankfully you were right there and got control.

| I'm so glad Sam is OK. The only dogs my 2 play with are my sister's pom (4 months old) and my son's Boston terrier. I'm right there while they play, too! We all know it only takes a second and you can't be too careful!
