I'm the new owner of a yorkie named Lola- she was born in Dcember and we brought her home in February She has two older and much bigger brothers (both are not yorkies) and she is definitley in charge Anyway, my main reason for posting at this point is for some training help!! She does not like to listen - and feels free going the bathroom wherever and whenever she pleases I hope some of you are able to give me some good information!! |

| Welcome to YT!!! I'm sure you'll get alot of great info here, I know I have. Don't really have much advice, other then be patient and consistent, have the puppy on a schedule and follow it. I know it seems endless, but it is definately worth it. My little guy, Winston is 3 years old, and I can't remember when he wasn't "trained". I was told when I first got him, to take him outside directly, wait as long as it takes, and it may take awhile, but when he does finally go potty, praise him, and I mean really make a BIG deal out of it. Then and only then, take him in the house...it worked for me. Hope I helped even if only alittle. |

| There are so many owners with potty training issues - there is a section on training and lots of great posts there. Try doing a search and you'll find all kinds of information - and to be consistant. These little ones have tiny bladders so patience goes a long way too. Good luck!!

| Well....I just went through this last summer. I am sure I did not do everything right, but I am happy w/ the results. She is now 1 year old and has never peed or pooped on my rugs. She has full run of the house now. First of all they need lots of confinement when they are little. I do not know how big Lola is, but Cuddles was only 1.7 pds. Can you imagine the size of their bladder. Maybe a grape or smaller. Well, Cuddles peed every 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. What I did is I kept her in the kitchen when she was being watched very closely and where the mess could be cleaned up really good. If you leave the smell on your rugs they will go back their and pee again. When I could not watch her she went in her crate. You take them out like I said every 15 min to 1/2 hour and when she goes you praise her ....say "good girl" and get excited. It is definitely a full time job, I was so exhausted while training her that I almost got rid of her. If it was not for my girls who just loved her, I hate to say it but she would be gone and I am so thankful I did not because she is just a wonder in our home. You just have to watch her constantly if she is out. I do not think their is anything wrong w/ crating them, infact i do believe in crating all night. They are safe and I do believe they feel safe. Discipline is another issue. Watch the Dog Whisperer w/ Ceasar, he is awesome. A dog needs a leader, you need to be in charge. She need to see she is not in charge. You need to make her listen or she will take advantage of you. You need to make her do what she is told to do or crate her and say bad girl. Watch the dog whisperer, I learned alot.... HTH Blessings |

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Hello and welcome to YT!! You must let her know that you are the boss and her going potty where ever she wants is NOT allowed! You have to keep taking her to her potty area every 1/2 hour. Take her and say Potty! If she goes, then you MUST reward her with special treats, but these treats can only be potty treats, find something that she just LOVES!!!! |

| just wanted to welcome you to YT. if there is a place to get help...it is right here the only advice i can give on this is consistency. show your pup that you are the boss and be very VERY consistent. that is the only way they learn is by learning what your routine is, learning what is acceptable. the way to accomplish that is being consistent. if you have to set a timer to remember to take her out every 1/2 hour, set a timer. i did not have to do that, we put bells on our back door and every time maggie would ring the bells, even when she just wanted to play with them, she had to go outside. i remember one day sitting by the door and she would ring the bells, i would put her out (we have a fenced yard), she would come back in, ring the bells and go right back out. she finally (after a couple of hours of this) figured out that ringing those bells means going outside. it was kinda cold out and she knew that the only way i would let her come in is if she went potty. so she started putting the pieces together and now we have a 6 month old angel in our house. she never has accidents anymore. if we go somewhere that they do not have bells on the door, she will go to the door and pretend there are bells there she has it all figured out. that is one idea. some people love the idea and some don't care for it. but it has worked for us. we were just consistent. good luck hun! you have picked an amazing breed
