Teeth I was looking at buddahs teeth last night. I have to admit for the first time ever. I noticed he is missing some which I think is normal right? He is 8 months and I think those just have fallen out....what really got me concerned is on his top row he has a second row coming in. now before I got him I remember reading sometimes all the baby teeth dont come out and they need to be removed. does this sound like something I should be concerned about? also how do you know if their bite is off?

Checking to see if his bite is off is pretty easy....he should have a scissor bite or a level bite...if his bottom teeth come up over his upper bite, he's under shot, if his upper teeth come down to far over his lowers, he has an over bite. if it goes off to the side he has a rye mouth....

Our vet won't do teeth and neutering together - I am mad about it ! Tara(pic left) needed a whole set of second teeth out at 8/9 months(the baby teeth), and they wouldn't neuter her at the same time....(She had her first season at 7 months). I had to then go through it all again, terrified for the life of my tiny dog(4lbs), under anaesthetic for a second time. Casper has good big teeth and they were fine. When I got Tammy,(at 3yrs) I asked for a price to neuter and pull a tooth out, as it looks rotten at the root, (after I had given her a dental) - and they again said I would have to take her in for two operations ! I haven't done it yet, but once she has had these puppies will get the tooth out, and look into the neutering again. Here, the Vets I've gone to just want to make money. .....and believe me that is very true ! I could tell you a few vet stories, and a friend vet would verify them too. I must keep looking for a genuine vet who really is interested in the animal first, and not just the money to be made. I am sure they exist !!! I still have the jar of Tara's whole set of baby teeth ! Debra x x x x

I don't anything about the baby teeth thing. Bijou is due for another check up so I guess I will ask the vet about that. Any time a person or animal for that matter has to go under the knife (so to speak) the doctor should accomplish all they can safely. I have a special needs daughter who has had quite a few surgeries and every time she does I throw in everything I can. Going under sedation is the biggest risk out of the whole surgery. This last surgery she had, I had them give her the flu shot. Thus one less poke she had to feel awake. They don't put IV's in until they under with the gas first. The surgery before I had the pediatric dentist come to the hospital and fix a cavity while she was under as she has sensory issues. Any vet should be willing to cover as much as they can while the pet is asleep. Just seems like the right thing to do.

My gran came from Nebraska ! I have a special needs Daughter too, but it is me who is on the operating table all the time, though her time will come ! We may get "free" healthcare, paid for by heavy taxes, but you have far superior Health care over there ! I was a Nurse, and my Canadian Mum was a Nurse, and my Nebraskan Gran was a General and Psychiatric Nurse.....and they all agree you are far superior - I would rather pay like you do and have the good health care, than pay for it in taxes which are drained away for Iraq instead ! I bet your Vets are the same - far better ! Debra x x x

at what age should his teeth have fallen out? Does anyone know how much it cost to have the removal. Is it really serious that he hasnt had them taken out yet?

$180 isnt too bad. Is it really bad for a dog to have an underbite? Is that something hereditary? I'm asking because I spent TOP dollar for Buddah and I think I am going to go after the "breeder" for all the problems I am having.

I know I have been completly taken now. I told them I was buying as a pet, but would be looking into Agility and that I would like to breed him once in hopes of getting a little girl. They assured me he was this that and everything else and now I am finding out much different. I guess you live and learn. I just wish there were something I could do. People should be held accountable for what they do and say. I would be upset if I hadnt paid $2,300 for him.
