| Midwest Airlines & Pets I'm flying home to California with Izzie (4 months old) for Easter. Has anyone flown on Midwest airlines? What was your experience like? We'll be flying from Kansas City to LAX. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get a super "nice" flight attendant who lets me take Izzie out of her bag. Then again, maybe it won't be such a good idea since Izzie *LOVES* people!!! Also, does anyone have any helpful "tips"? I've been researching this whole experience on YT before Izzie came to live with me, but I'm still a little nervous!

| I work for Midwest airlines I have worked for Midwest Airlines for 22yrs. We have an excellent reputation for the care we take w/ pets. We just recently started allowing pets in the cabin. We allow two pets per flight IN the cabin. The regulation is that the dog must be kept in the carrier under your seat at all times. This has to do with those seated around you as not everyone is a dog lover or may have allergies. You may get a flight attendant who will let you hold the pup, but remember if not that they are just following regulations. Make sure you bring puppy pads with you and nutrical. I brought home my Biewer 3/5 from Philly to MKe and had him under the seat. I had a puppy pad that I found a discreet place in the airport to see if he would pee b4 getting on the flight. Make sure that you pup is used to the kennel (crate) as they have to be quiet on the flight otherwise they can deny boarding. It actually is a lovely thing. I actually gave Bently some benedryl (as was advised by my vet) to keep him relaxed and sleepy, he did't make a peep. Any ?s feel free to PM me. Kathy |

| Kathy, I already have the flight confirmation for Izzie and myself. I absolutely LOVE flying on Midwest. I really love the non-stop flights! I bought a tube of Nutri-Cal. It's 4 1/2 ounces. Is that going to be a problem carrying it on, as far as you know? (because it could be classified as a liquid/gel substance) Izzie has done fine on car rides in her carrier. It's an evening flight, so I'm hoping that she's going to be sleepy. It's going to be a long day (for both of us!) It's almost a 3 hour drive from Salina to Kansas City...fun fun fun

| i recently flew from kentucky to Los Angeles with a puppy. I put some Nutracal in an empty film cartridge and dropped it in my purse. No problem. I also had a baggy of food and a can of cesers food in the side of my crate. No problem. I just showed them to the security guy as I went thru. Also, make sure your crate is soft sided and THE TOP CORNERS are also soft. Most only allow nine inches high but it can be squashed down. i bought one with stiff corners and had to return it. |

| Amanda, You should be fine with your nutrical. Also, as mentioned, make sure you are using a soft sided airline regulated carryon carrier. I purchased a Sherpa (actually from my own airline) to use. its a nice feeling having your dog right there with you,,,Hope it goes good for you. Kathy |

| Kathy, Thanks for all of your help! I purchased a Celltei carrier and made sure the measurements fit EXACTLY what the Midwest rep told me. I'm sure that everyone at the Kansas City airport is going to love her...

| We made it!!! Izzie did *WONDERFUL* on the flight!! She was Miss Popularity, while walking through the security line. The flight attendents were amazing, bringing ice & water to give to Izzie on the flight. She couldn't be out of her bag, but they did let me hold her (in her carrier) on my lap during the whole flight (except takeoff & landing.) I highly recommend flying on Midwest airlines if you can (plus they give you freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies!) Thanks for EVERYONE's help!
