Help - ears! I have had a few messages on here about my little girl's ears......but I am still curious what I should be doing. She just got the tips shaved, so that the weight is off of them. I see that there is a whole bunch of hair on the ear itself, that might also be weighing it down (near the base). I tried taping them, to no avail. It's just not possible with her, and I feel bad for her anyway running around with tape on her ears. I might have done it wrong though. I taped it around the base, I read that on the net. Sort of made it like a tube sticking up. She looked like Shrek!! Anyway, I keep seeing pictures of yorkies with their ears up, and my heart aches for that for my baby. She is almost 6 months old. Both her parents ears stand up nicely (I have attached a picture of them). I have also attached a picture of her........ Will my babies ears ever stand up on their own? Do I have to do something? Should I have them shaved really regularly?? Should I just stop worrying about it?? I love my girl to pieces, don't get me wrong. I will love her no matter what. But when I wanted a yorkie part of the attraction was that priceless little face with the ears. Help.

I can barely see the pic of your baby. I don't know too much about what you need to do to help get your babys ear up. They might not ever come up even if her parents ears are up. There are alot of YT'ers here that will answer your question but I wanted to show you a pic of my girl. Her ears never went up and I can say I tried a little. I finally told myself that her ears will go up if they wanted to go up. She is adorable and I really love her floppy ears. I also have a male and his ears are up and I didn't have to do anything.

Here is another picture - sorry the other one is so dark - and it is so cute too bad I like the look of your puppy with the long hair around the floppy ears. I guess Jeanie's hair will grow long........Everytime I see those perky ears, I feel bad that hers didn't do it. I guess I just have to get over it...........it may never be. The breeder told me to wait and in time it would just happen. She was wrong.

OMGoodess she is adorable!!!!!!!!! What I do know is that after a certain age they will not go up but I might be wrong. Hey you can always send her my way and I can send you Timmy the hyper man with his ears up...lol j/k She is a cutie pie....just keep the hair short on her ears...I'm not sure about taping...but if it doesn't work..I can say that you will have a puppy face for life..I guess thats what I love about my girl. My girl is 1 yr old and ever since she was about 7 months old I didn't even bother with trying to get her ears up and now her hair on her ears is getting really long which I love.

Ears Hello, I know this might sound mean but i taped my dogs ear for 2 days because he was 4 months and they were still down. I really didn't want to. But the year has cartilage and after a while it will get used to it. From the picture i saw you were taping the ears wrong. I found the correct way on a website. http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html you need to tape them all the way up like a triangles. Hope this helps you, it helped Kobe and now they are completely up. Kobe

Chewie came with floppy ears too, but the breeder taped them. My yorkie owner vet, told me to take the tape off because the ears will probably come up on their own. After two months, one of his ears is up and the other one is trying its best to come up. He's a keeper floppy ears or not.

| At 6 months old your gonna have to shave them and tape them to get them up and they still might not go up

I'm so frustrated with myself that I listened to the breeder and just left them waiting for them to go up. This should have been done a long time ago....

Thanks - but I did already try that. It looked so painful to her - she looks like shrek with her ears like that. And they don't stay up, the go sideways....... I am going to the groomer tomorrow with my plea - and see what they can do.......shave more down the ear maybe? Not just the tip? I don't know...

| I know someone that folded the ear (up and down) and put a narrow piece of velcro around each ear and in two days they were up.

Thanks - I haven't tried that ......I will. The velcro I don't really understand.......... This surgical tape one I kind of understand, but I will try and I will talk to the groomer I go to and see what she thinks I should do.
