Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | they look good. not infected. however it does look like she's been licking at them which is why the skin is a little red where the stitch goes into the skin. you may not see her licking but she may be sneaking in there when you aren't looking. does she have an e-collar to wear? if so i'd keep it on there all day long. or you can put a babies onsie on her, or some type of outfit that will cover her tummy. they need to stay in 10-14 days after surgery

| Yes, she is wearing an e-collar, almost all day. I take it off so she can get to her food and water without a problem. She has figured out that her hind leg can scratch it too... I have had my eye on her 24/7 to make sure she is staying away from it. I even let her sleep in my bed instead of the crate so that I can tell if she is getting at it or not. I suppose I am just being a worry wort, but I dont understand why they dont make us put antibiotic cream or a bandage on them! Thanks! |

| I know, depending on where you are, they have different ways of doing the procedure. She has to go back in another week to get them out - they are not dissolvable. She is not on any oral antibiotics either. It has been a full time job trying to keep her quiet! It has been nearly impossible! |

| She looks like a tiny little girl and that incision just looks HUGE to me. My Phoebi had 3 pink stitches.....the incision was no larger than an 1 1/2". To answer your question they don't look infected. |

| 1. That's a huge incision for such a teeny girl. 2. There is a little too much space in between each suture, that's why they appear to be gaping. 3. They look pretty good other than the slight redness around the openings.

| stitches I think they look fine I am suprized that you were not sent home with abx mine was spayed in January and she had 10 days of abx, you could still put abx ointment on the area because if she is biting there, the mouth has the most bacteria, you wouldnt want her to get infected I would also put a baby onsie on her that is what worked for mine, I am not a dog nurse but I am a nurse I take care of stiches all the time and your dog still looks ok, good luck. |

| She is 5.5 pounds. I ended up taking her to the emerg on Friday night because she wouldnt stop licking and that is when I got the e-collar and some metacam (pain meds). But no antibiotics. I guess all I can do is keep a close eye on it...the vet told me just as long as it isnt oozing, not to worry! (easy for her to say!) Thanks so much everyone! |
