| What to do if YOU are sick? I was wondering what all of you Yorkie owners do when YOU are the ones who are sick? Do you try to keep your yorkies away from you as much as possible because they are so fragile? Or should it not really be a concern of getting your baby sick? The reason I ask is, I am currently on antibiotics for a NASTY bug - (FYI - if you start with a sore throat, and have a fever at the same time..get to the doc ASAP - I have to be off work 3 days and have a 103.3 fever..feeling well enough to stand today though). Anyways, I really don't want Brooke to get sick...and I wasn't sure if I should be worried about spreading my illness. My mother-in-law was over yesterday to take care of the dogs though..so i am *crossing my fingers* that we don't have to take any of the "kids" to the vet.

| I don't believe many illnesses can be passed from human to canine and vice verse. When I am sick, everyone has to fend for themselves. LOL

| I didn't think dogs could catch things from us - I may be wrong.... I think I was wrong once... I was really sick yesterday - I know the weak feeling and you can hardly get up. I had such a horrid stomache. When my dogs weren't in their crates, they were a little more mellow with me but did seem to land on my tummy a few times from the back of the couch. I had one of them outside and I almost passed out - then I had to run back in to throw up. It's really no fun to be sick when you have animals to take care of. It's funny cause when Kaya was sick with throwing up and runny stools, she started to get better and my son got sick with the same symptoms and then I did too. Can we catch things from THEM???? |

| I have been told by 3 Vets that our furbabies cannot catch our illnesses, although we can catch diseases from them. Like coccidia, giardia, & rabies.

| Whenever I've been ill throughout the years you could find my babes right next to me on the bed. They aren't going to catch your illnesses.

| Thats good to know..thanks. I just have ZERO health insurance and have shelled out all this money to get myself feeling well enough to survive..and I didn't want to have to take all the dogs to the vet too..although obviously I would if they got ill!

| Hi, I've been told by my vet that about the only thing our furbabies can catch from us is Strep. I have had to keep Sweetie away from my step-son (who had strep 5 times during the 3rd grade!) when he was still running a temp with it and the 1st 24 hours he was on antibiotics. Hope this helps! | The only thing they can get from us is strep. They normally don't get sick from it, they just carry the germ and reinfect US So no kisses until you are on antibiotics for 48 hours Feel better!!!

| LOL..I think I agree with you..even though I posted that they are fragile..it seems MY particular pup..is very hardy. She runs, jumps, plays ALL the time...now my mother has a "fragile" yorkie..she has had her dog to the vet off and on since she came home..and the vet told her that Savannah is extremely fragile to even temperature changes! So, yes I do agree that sometimes people worry more about their dogs than the dogs worry about themselves. LOL. However, I will tell you that due to the fact that Brookie is only 3 pounds, I do worry about ensuring she gets to the vet ASAP. Sorry guys, this post might have been dumb...but due to all the meds I am on..please excuse it.

| Oh I didn't think it was dumb at all!!!! I was really thinking that maybe I should start being more careful.......etc....I am always aware of what he eats etc...to make sure he gets what he needs (food and water) because sometimes I think he forgets all that stuff when we are playing hard outside, I just wanted to make sure we aren't 'missing' anything. |
