| Advice My husband and I are currently looking into getting a dog. My favored breed is yorkie, but I am very picky as to what I want. It must be female and the tinest possible. I understand they are "yappy" which is good for me as I want one for security purposes (personal alarm system, lol!) What am I looking at as far as price? Also, how hard is it to train them? |

| Welcome to YT. If you want a small dog with a giant heart, the yorkie is for you . Noone can guarantee the size of a yorkie puppy. The parents size is an indication, but even tiny yorkies sometimes have larger babies ( if you concider a dog the size of a 5 pound bag of sugar large). Not all yorkies are yappy, they can be; but that tiny voice will not deter an intruder, although it will alert you. My Sawyer will bark when someone comes to the door, but he is trained to then sit by the door until I answer it. I am so worried that someone will steal my baby however, that I had an alarm system installed to protect him while we are not at home, so I guess he isn't much of a burgler deterent after all LOL. The cost veries, even in the same area. Many of us have found great yorkies for 800 to 1500 dollars; but if you are looking for a dog for anyother reason than to love and enjoy, please find another breed. A yorkie is a force all his own, while requiring lots of attention and care, they are the most joyful creature you will ever bring into your home.

| If they are well-socialized, they are not usually "yappy". Some are very difficult to train and some are not. It depends on their personality. Personalities can vary as much for a yorkie as they can for a human.
