| Uh Oh.. Hello All, I just purchased a puppy today and I noticed that a tiny flea jumped onto the couch. I believe that the flea came from the puppy. I tried to get it but it jumped way too fast. What should I do? Is he too young for any flea medication? Thank you |

| Most of the flea stuff says for pups over 6 weeks of age. I use Frontline on my zoo. I have so many so I hate to admit that I do take a break during the winter. Just started back up this month as we have had some warm days.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | frontline can be given to the pup. I'm assuming the pup is 10 weeks or older if you just brought it home. Frontline can be purchased at petco now i believe. Don't bath the pup before or after you put the frontline on or you will render it useless. That should take care of hte fleas.

another thing to consider....I give our dogs brewers yeast daily and they have never had to worry about fleas, so i believe it is a good "preventative", as well as being very good for their skin and coat, if used regularly. JMO. you can buy brewers yeast tablets at most pet stores and even wal-mart.

| This is just my opinion - so please feel free to ignore it. I wouldn't use any flea medicine on a puppy. I'd give him a bath in Dawn dishwashing soap (try to find the regular, not the ultra - but ultra is OK, if that is all you can find). That will kill the fleas. If you don't have fleas in your house or yard, then he won't get any more and there won't be any need for the strong flea medicine. Of course, if he is likely to pick up more fleas, then the medicine would be necessary.

| Does the dawn really work? I have tried it and didn't notice any differance. Maybe I didn't let it sit on long enough, do you just shampoo with it as you normally would? I was just looking at the petco website trying to decide what to buy.I'm seeing fleas on Rocco and Sissy. |
