How soon is too soon to take puppy out? My cousin is getting a 9 week old puppy and has to make a 2 hour trip for her mother-in-laws birthday this weekend (same weekend she gets her puppy) Is she better off staying home or is it safe for puppy to be out and about? There will be 2 other dogs at mother in laws house. Thanks in advance

If she knows these other dogs have been vaccinated I guess it's OK. But you aren't supposed to take them anywhere where other dogs have been until they have had all of their shots. I would not allow him to walk outside where the other dogs potty.

I would say it would be too soon. The puppy will not have all of her/his shots yet and should not be socalized (sp?) with other dogs. The puppy might pick up something from the other dogs. Is she getting the puppy from a breeder? I'm sure if she talks to the breeder maybe she could put off getting the puppy (but who would want to do that? ) for another week when your cousin would be able to devote all of her time to the new puppy! Hope this helps!
